I have a bad BCM due to the previous owner having had the vehicle flooded and was undisclosed. My only option really is to find a scrap one with about a foot of wiring attached- the existing wiring is corroded and all “melted” together. My question is do I need a specific BCM for a v8 as opposed to a v6? Did not know if the only difference would be in the ecm or in the BCM as well. Thanks for your help!

Welcome from TX. I feel it would be best to search out one from a truck with the same options as yours. It may not be a big deal, but I personally would stick with 00-02.
