Woo Hoo! Made contact with Jerry and now I am the owner of a Toyota ext warranty plan (true Toyota plan) and yes - I live in the SET and yes - I can buy this warranty even though I live in the SET and yes - he can sell it to me!!! Stupid lying dealer who sold me the truck….grrrr!!!

And I want to thank Jerry who seems to be a lovely person, very easy to deal with, took care of things in just about 15 minutes over the phone (including time to chat and laugh) and then sent us a conf email in the wee hours of the morn. All in all a painless process with him - so I am so glad that this wonderful forum tells everyone about him in all the ext warranty posts/threads that are out there. Would never have known about him if this forum did not exist.

I want to thank you all.

I am not sure why people want to continue to work with a dealership after they say shit like this. Walk away, MANY other dealers across the country.

Well in our case the issue with the dealer did not even come up until the finance person who was doing the paperwork as we made payment for the truck started in about the ext warranty. Up until the ext warranty BS it was a fine experience with the dealer. But after the BS we gave them the payment and took our new Tundra and left. Besides a f/up phone call from the sales guy asking if we had any questions we have had no further dealings with the dealership. And we do not intend to as far as I can tell at this point. But it was all in the last 1.5 hours of the buying experience.

I negotiated my deal with one phone call to the sales manager, then a few text messages with my assigned salesperson. When my allotment truck arrived, I got another text message. There was no bait and switch tactics, and the negotiated price never changed.

But, after checking this forum, I realized they overcharged me for the extended warranty by about $1500. When I threatened to cancel the policy and buy it elsewhere, they reluctantly refunded me the $1500.

    Overall, it was pretty painless.

Sounds like the shitty dealer in my little town. Refuses to participate with Toyota Parts and charges inflated prices.

This same thing happened to me at Eastern Shore Toyota. My sales guy was awesome and I got a great deal, but everything went sour went I went to the finance guy. When discussing warranties I stated I was going to get it later. The douche told me I had to buy from him at the time of sale only. I called him out and said that was not true. He did not back down. I got it for 75% less from Jerry than that dude started out with. I will most likely not purchase another car from them.

Well we eent in and then had a discussion on the ext warranty. She told us our options were limited to two: one from the company that owned her dealership and one from JM&A which is the SET group and that those were my only choices and the JM&A one was over $3,700 (if I remember correctly). I kept asking about the Toyota one that I had read about on the Toyota Financial page. She kept saying that the Toyota one was through JM&A and that I had to buy either one right then or I would have to buy a policy for a “used” vehicle which would be thousands more in cost. So that conversation took a while, then we left he room to wander around and discuss it without her, then I tried to call Jerry to see if that was the truth, then I spent time on my phone finding information to take back to her to show her that the Toyota policy can be bought at anytime as long as the car is under warranty - info that she kept ignoring and really did not want to talk about - she just restated the options that she had given us. Eventually we just told her no. So then we had to sign all the papers. Got to the end and I saw that my name was incorrect. Toss the papers and reprint and re-sign. Then I notice the date is incorrect. Toss, print and sign. Then I notice that the date is still incorrect. Toss, print and sign. After signing the 4th set of paperwork we handed over the check and left. All that took about 1.5 hrs - none of which was fun. Bought the warranty the other day from Jerry - fun, easy, quick and over half the price off from what she had been quoting me. I knew the price with Jerry as I had read some posts on this forum where people had shared their quotes. This forum is so chock-a-block full of helpful info - what a powerful tool it is.
