Can't appreciate this post more. Kids and giving them experiences and a few minutes of joy is what it is all about.

    We've seen Grouplove 4 times..
    I love 'em..

    Hannah Hooper is a favorite.
I don't mind the male singer so much, they sound really good together.
Since I'm buzzed, I'll post my favorite Grouplove song.
The concept of the video is awesome as well...

They did actually come through the stadium to meet people after their set, which was cool. They covered sabotage, and she crushed it. I don't know much more about them other than the song you posted. Wife and kids were also unaware, so it could just be a regional breakthrough issue.

Ugh.... I was dumb. Instead of getting an extra hour of sleep I played an extra hour of Diablo with a buddy. Slept pretty solid, but my head is killing me.:boom:

    Doh!

I slept ok, but drank more yesterday than I have lately. Somebody broke out some homemade apple whiskey at the cider press party. :bananadead:

I gotta say. I’m coming up on 6 months next Saturday. It is probably a record for me in at least 10+ years. I love waking up the next say without regrets, or having to check my texts to see if I said anything
That, and I’ve been following my diet consistently since I called it quits. My wife cut her drinking way down too. She has maybe 1 drink a month now, if that. She ordered a glass of wine last night with dinner, and I think she only had half of it. She’s been pretty good with her diet and training too. I’ve definitely noticed.

I don't know anyone that has lightened up or given up on booze that has regretted it. Some people are fine with it, some can maintain control, and then there are some that can't touch it or their life just goes to shit.

A buddy's brother comes to mind. Decent dude so long as he's not on the sauce, but one beer always turns into 3, and 3 beers always turns into hard liquor, and hard liquor makes him aggressive, violent, and stupider than he already is. It's ruined his life more than once. He's currently on another rebound. Told my buddy a paraphrased quote I heard that he relayed to his brother. "You may not get into trouble every time you drink, but if you look back I bet you'll see that just about every time you did get into trouble you were drinking." He said it helped, and I hope so.

That's awesome. I have cut my drinking way back and it feels great. I didn't even get drunk last night, and still I'm ready for a break

Y'all were busy last night. I had dinner and a short bar crawl with some friends. There's a restaurant called Mexican Sugar near us, and they have good food and a good atmosphere. A little joint called Ebb & Flow after. The three other guys are the guys I work with daily and go camping with once a quarter - we're all going to stay friends past our work histories - and we've only recently started getting the wives together too. They're all getting along, even though they have significantly different world views. We're all older, so maybe that's just the grace that comes with age. Good times, though.

He's an excellent blues guitarist, except that in my opinion he doesn't play with any soul or emotion. It's like he's just playing and singing the notes without really meaning it. I love the blues, but I can't listen to him long.

I've been dry since about mid April too but that's because it's hard to get up in the night to take care of babies after you've had a beer or two (at least it is for me). It's not like I was drinking a ton but a beer on a Saturday night while playing video games with my brothers tastes damn good.

I was just tired of it. We (wife and I) would go out for “a drink” which for me meant 6-8 beers. She had her 1-2 max. She has control. I do not. It took me a while to realize it. Then, beer makes me want to eat whatever tf I wanted with it. All while pushing my physical goals further and further away with money down the drain. I finally told myself “No. no more. You can’t have just 1. Can’t have just 1 at dinner. Can’t have just 1 on a holiday. No.” It’ll turn into in all day thing. He’ll, my Sundays would start with drinking around noon (beer) and stop late at night. That is an issue. I had a few friends I told I’m done with it. They’ve been nothing but supportive. I would never turn aggressive from drinking. It just got old. The wife was getting tired of it too. Have quite a few on Friday and or Saturday and pass out on the couch. I knew it was becoming an issue, but I didn’t want to admit it or stop until that day (5/11/23) I said I’m done and stuck to it. Wife and friends are super supportive and understanding. I can still go out and see others drink and it doesn’t bug me one bit. I don’t mind being the guy with the diet soda in hand lol.
I’ve been keeping my milestone updates with @LarryDangerfield. He's been super supportive.
Last night was the first time I’ve been on a date night with the wife and didn’t touch it.
Tyler texted me asking if 1-2 date nights a year was normal. I told him we used to go out every Friday and Saturday but then I would have 6-8 drinks so it was a new thing for us to do this without me going to grab some beers before, during, and after. That, and our son isn’t old enough we can keep home very long and not be close by the house. So, if our daughter isn’t home, we had to dance around that.

My drinking these days is 1-2 drinks before dinner and then water. Maybe 2-4 times per week. Just don’t like going to bed buzzed/drunk anymore.

On the rare occasion where I have more, I try to get a water in after every 1-2 drinks.

What I need to do is get down to 1-2 drinks per week so I can get my weight under control. Someday…

Agreed! You’ve got our support and right there with you. I only drink once maybe twice a year when I travel for work and go to dinner with customers and even then it’s only a drink or two. Multiple different reasons as to why I don’t but is an unpopular opinion from a lot of the crowd I hung out with and are still friends with from college especially (lived in a frat house for 3 years with the nick name of tank).

Glad to see that you pulled out of that habit, definitely worth it. The biggest thing I've realized lately is that you don't have to be a classic alcoholic to know you should quit, it doesn't have to get there.

I think that's where I'm at with drinking, just tired of it. I've been working out a lot more this year and drinking is counter productive to a healthy lifestyle.
My dad quit drinking when he was my age (liver issues), after Hawaii I'm done for a while, maybe longer. Not planning on getting drunk but definitely going to enjoy a few umbrella cocktails. :D

    By way of encouragement...

I had been on a tear, losing probably more than 15 lbs. doing nothing but walking around a park for a few months. Hit the gym a few times too, and notice my physique bouncing back a little from 10 or so years of sedentary behavior. Over the past couple of weeks I've gone camping with friends and to Miami with my wife, and drank the whole time. Drank again last night out with those same friends. I'm gaining those pounds back, and don't feel like walking until my head clears. It's not a great path. We're sliding into holiday season, which will make it hard to slow down, and hard to get into the gym and out at the park walking. And nothing about being in good health and shape is as easy as it was in my 30's or 40's...

Good on you for jumping out of a little madness.
