Day 1 done! Two safe passes down - ET 6.52 and 6.53. She seems consistent and ready to win a championship!

 

I hope ToyoMafia crew represents well. hope you do well... how does 6.52 6.53 stack up against the competition. I know nothing about drag boats

 

From what I remember Adam and Sam explaining, it’s all about launch timing and the target time across the finish line. You get docked if you launch too fast or cross the line to fast. Adam will explain it better.

 

We race a class called Pro Comp Flat. Rules are the boat has to be a flat bottom (no hydros) and run the track between 5.80-6.80 seconds. You get to pick the number (your dial-in) within that range. If you go faster than your dial-in you lose. It’s all about consistency and knowing your boat.

 

So it's not first boat across the line that wins? Interesting.

 

ah. thanks for the explanation. so it is more about hitting your specified time than the head to head fastest to the finish line. Cool

@AZBoatHauler - Mrs. WBW and I are going out there to watch and support our InColeherent140 team tomorrow. What time should we get there and be able to watch them run? I don't want to be late and miss it. I am still at work tonight and don't expect to be done until after 11 pm.

So sadly our weekend is done - we dialed a 6.520 and ran a 6.507 - little too quick. We will be here watching throughout the day so feel free to come by anytime.

 

Damn 13/1000 too quick... less than a blink of an eye which is 100/1000.

Well, that sucks. It is racing though. Do you know when you are running at Firebird again?

 

Rumor is March.

 

Had an amazing time out there this weekend putting faces to names, checking out the pits, feeling my chest vibrate when one of those boats lights off, hearing “war stories” and talking about pillow blocks and temperature change/air density. #nerdshit

Looking forward to being able to be there again in the future.

Need to thank @Incoleherent140 for meeting me at the out ramp after every pass - coming back home after every race is always our #1 priority. Had an incident Sunday morning with a driver being ejected - thankfully we just heard from one of his family members that he is improving and will hopefully make a full recovery.

Thanks also to @TRDFerguson @RainMan_PNW and @BiggHertz for coming out to support the team. Jason grabbed some amazing photos for us Saturday - much appreciated.

We’ve made a bunch of changes to the boat this year - new engine, different fuel, etc. We found out after racing this weekend it needs a taller gear in the driveline and probably a bigger prop to get it where we want to be.

5 passes down the track this weekend ranged from 6.42 seconds - 6.59 seconds. After the upcoming changes we are hoping to run consistently around 6.0-6.2.

We may have a second boat at the race next year for me to take my shot at the liquid 1/4 mile.
