    Hey,

Today, the rear/tail right turn signal on my 2022 vehicle (without the knob to release the tailgate) stopped working. When I turn right, I notice a rapid pulsing of the turn signal, indicating that something is amiss. In an attempt to resolve this issue, I removed the light assembly by loosening the two nuts inside the tailgate, hoping to access the bulb. However, it appears that the light assembly is sealed shut.

Has anyone else experienced a similar problem, and if so, what was your solution?

I am aware that the manual suggests consulting a dealer for this matter.

    Thank you,
    SJO

Newer LED light housings, both headlamp and tail lamps, are usually non-serviceable and need to be replaced when they stop working.

Could be as simple as a loose/dirty connection. It can get a little dirty behind the taillights - I'd start by cleaning the contacts and checking the voltage at the connector.

Sounds like a faulty resistor to me or a bad fuse.

I would never have thought of that - you go from a $5 bulb to having to replace the whole thing?

With modern LEDs averaging a lifespan of 10's of 1000's hours, I would hope that LED headlights & taillights would last the life of the truck. Especially considering the LED is only part of the time (braking, lights on, or turning/lane changing).

I guess only time will tell how long these LEDs last. Either way, it does suck to have to replace the entire unit for hundreds of dollars since it's non-serviceable. Non-serviceable components are dumb. Period. Just creates more waste, but I won't get on that soapbox. haha.

Any electrical component is serviceable with the proper tools and motivation. Circuit boards can be traced, diodes and resistors replaced.

Unfortunately it’s easier to throw it away and replace it - for us. Meantime in the third world and developing nations, children are going through our e-waste to salvage the components and precious metals.

If it has a PCB, please don’t toss it in the landfill, recycle it properly [/soapbox]
