New here as I picked up a 2019 SR5 Crewmax, Barcelona Red, with 37K, KL on it. Yahoo.

Living in Ottawa Canada where they use tons of salt on the roads all winter, My brother and I used a product called Crossion Free to under coat it. He had just picked up a 2023 1794. We spent about 7-8 hours per truck to complete the undercoat. Took off every cap, and removed door pillar latches to get up and down the pillars, if there was an opening, we coated it. Underneath we coated the inside of every beam and cross channels, and all other parts we could access from the bottom. I would say that an undercoating to this extent is not required yearly but will most likely do the bottom yearly or at least check it. The 1794 took longer as there were a lot of cross members underneath. However, the bottom of the box does not need to be done. It's composite plastic.

On my truck, I also installed the rear driver's side flip-down step for access to the box, which took me three hours. The truck was sitting on the ground. it may have taken less time on a hoist, but it is solid I love it.

I bought the trick with a tonal cover and plastic Toyota bed liner. My brother had an O8 Tundra for many years and suggested taking out the box liner to check for rust spots. Sure, enough there were 4 areas that had started to rust along the seams where Toyota lays a bead of seam sealer and then paint over it.

I ground the rust out and used the POR 15, metal cleaner to condition the open steel preparing it for coating, then coated the prepared rust areas as well as any other scuffed areas with (Dominion Sure Seal- Rubberized Rocker guard). My brother's 08 also had a plastic bed liner and it rusted holes through the bed up close to the back window of the cab. He suggested drilling some holes in the box to let water out so I did then coated them on the top side with the rocker guard and the bottom with corrosion free. There is a seam at the back wall of the bed and the bed itself that I thought may get water in it and cause rust so I applied Window sealer as it stays very flexible even in very cold weather. I have attached pictures of the bed before putting the liner back in showing the holes in the bed and coating and the bed step.

Mods – My previous vehicle was a 2012 Sienna that had auto up-down switches for all the windows, has anyone changed the window switches to automatic up-and-down type switches? My SR5 has auto-up for the driver's side only.

I also want to add extra bed tie-downs as the previous owner removed the Toyota rails when the tonal cover was installed. I could get new rails but kinda expensive from Toyota. Maybe the ( L Track) still looking.

Eventually want to get a cap, the best price so far has been with the ARE cap over the Leer.

    Many thanks for any suggestions
