    Good day, folks!

I have a bit of a weird one today...

2011 Toyota Tundra 4.6L Double Cab w/tow package. This truck has a column shifter.

So here's the problem, my "park" shift indicator on the dashboard PRNDL no longer illuminates in park, or at all. The orange backlighting still works, as do all the other indicator lights on the PRNDL. The green P just will not illuminate.

Now back when this first happened, I had a check engine light come on. Truck was taken to Toyota, and they diagnosed a failure of the secondary air pump. They tried to sell me on the idea that the park light and the check eng/secondary air failure were related, which I didn't really buy. All the same, they fixed the air system, and the park light still remains out...

Now, my first thought was maybe something is up with the tranny shift position sensor or the P position sensor in the column, but the truck is both shifting properly into park, and the engine is starting in park as it should... no dashboard warning lights are illuminated, as well.

Any ideas? Could I really just have a burned out LED?

    Thanks for your time.

The Park/Neutral switch is where I would start. It has a power input that is passed through the switch depending on which gear you are in. The "power" signal then goes through a junction connector into the interior and the back of the cluster. When the corresponding pin (P,R,N,D) receives the power signal it turns on the indicator light.

Pretty unlikely the LED failed. I would be checking the P input from the Park/Neutral switch.

Copy. Thank you for the information. That was gonna be my first check, but I wasn't sure if it had any signal relayed to the dash, or specifically to the park light. To the multimeter-mobile!

Right. But these aren't bulbs, they are LEDs. Which granted, they can fail too, but its unlikely. But, I thought I would throw it out there in case someone else had a similar issue. ‍♂️
