I have HP Tuners MPVI2+ for a different vehicle. I've heard, anecdotally, that HP Tuners can connect to several Toyota cars - but without FULL functionality. Has anyone walked down this road?

Chris, the owner of HPTuners, has been working on this for a while. My understanding, though I haven't tried yet, is that the latest BETA can connect to the Tundra and it will datalog, but the PCM is completely locked for editing.

Now that HPTuners has released support for the 2021+ F-150 and are making great progress on the 2024 Mustang GT, I see them having the capability to override other OTA PCMs soon. It will likely require you to send your PCM to them for unlocking, which will be a telltale sign by the dealership in an event of a failure, but we are getting closer to having actual tune access.

I'm on a list of beta testers for the Tundra, so we should be seeing something soon according to my sources.

Awesome, thank you for the reply. So, at this point we cannot even modify the speedometer? Read only?

Speedometer will most likely follow other toyotas. They're measured via wheel speed sensors and not controlled via ECU. This is a common request that I get asked for the prev Gen Tundra and is the same for Tacoma and 4Runners.07-21.

I've also been advocating for expanded Toyota support with HP Tuners. VF tuners expanded support for 07-21 Tundras and they're also working on PCM access. Currently VF and HP support 07-21 Tundras.
