SAME! Hard to shell out $80-100K on the truck with all the mods/additions I want...but the Tundra just wont cut it - safely.

I have read quite a bit about this. Seems to be an issue on certain trucks but then others have had zero issues...strange but appreciate the feedback.

I've thought this too. What kind of quality comes out of a factory when workers are walking out and pissed off. As for the suspension, I would just be doing a 2.5" lift and tires/wheels. Keeping it low with big tires. I hate the huge lifts for many of the reasons you mentioned.

If you want input on the GMC side I can give my perspective. I don't have the new allison but I own a 2021 3500 approaching 75k miles on it. I am not light on the vehicle and can talk to the quality/lack of quality.

But I would do what was mentioned before in the thread. Test drive all 3. At this point, manufacturer bias needs to be thrown out when you are about to spend >$70K. I settled on GM because of ride quality for the family and dogs. I test drove the Ford for 2 mins and the wife said absolutely not. I tried convincing her that I could spend another $4K and get the suspension to be super smooth. She rolled her eyes and walked away

If you purchase a Tremor package the F250 has exactly the same suspension as the F350 but with the 3/4 ton sticker.

    Just an FYI.

To be clear, I’m fine being over payload when we’re all loaded up as long as neither axle is overloaded. Truck handles and stops great. But adding the tongue weight of a trailer to our situation just isn’t going to work out.

The Ford seems the best on paper, but I have real trust issues. I’m curious of the GM gassers with the 10 speed “Allison”. I wonder if that might be the most hassle free option, even if they drink some oil.

Have you thought of an older pre-DEF Duramax? A buddy of mine has a 2011 GMC he absolutely loves. Might be an option for me if the right one comes along.

Did you have the death wobble in the Ford?

It wasn't the death wobble, but a consistent shake in the rear end at around 30-35mph and then again at 65-75mph. So basically at two major cruising speed ranges.

Forgive me for not going into more detail, but I've written and complained about this ad nauseum (not here, necessarily) and long ago grew tired of the whole thing. Ford acknowledged the issue but couldn't ever find a cause.

I think some owners may have just accepted it, but having driven another Tremor in literally the exact same configuration that didnt have the problem and questioning the owners at www.tremors.com without any evidence that it was normal, I was afraid of what it may mean for the long-term health of the truck and sold it back to Ford. I even swapped my aftermarket wheels and tires back to factory (per the service department refusal to further investigate due to aftermarket wheels and tires - in the same size) and still had the issue. What a waste of $$ that was.

I just sold my 2021 F-350 7.3 V8 and picked up a 2021 Platimun Tundra. I have nothing bad to say about the F-350 it served my needs very well for 22000 miles of towing & plowing snow. So far I am absolutely loving my 2021 Platinum Tundra!

Funny my wife and I test drove the Ford and she was like nope! she did not like the interior materials on neither the Ford or the Chevy we test drove. She actually went in thinking she would hate the Ram the most because of their past but ended up loving it.

I went with the Ford over the Chevy....because of the interior materials, lol. However, I was looking at King Ranch/Platinum trims. Ended up going with Platinum because the lady didn't like the interior color of the King Ranch. The Chevy's have more hard plastics and the leather quality is crap....although, I don't like the leather quality in the Lariat Ford, either. To get good leather quality in a GM product, you have to buy a Cadillac. I don't like the Ram's interior because it's super busy. Lots of buttons and different materials used throughout the interior. Not a fan. Plus, something to consider, I've worked for GM dealers for over 20 years and still went with a Ford, lol. No regrets. Moreover, no regrets selling the F-350 and getting into the Tundra.

IMG_8401.jpg Having owned both GM and Ford 3/4 or 1 tons(multiple of each) over the years, I’d say you can’t go wrong. I bought my Tundra with the mindset that I really didn’t need my diesel 350 at the time. I only owned it for a year and went right back to a F250 diesel(2017).

I don’t regret going back to a diesel or 3/4 or 1 ton at all. After all that’s really all I know and they have served me well. If you could keep the Tundra and get the Ford, I would do it. If not, buy the Ford and be happy with it.

We just traded in our 2017 F250 on our 2023 F350 PS. I put a Carli Backcountry kit on it and will do wheels and tires soon. I hope this truck will be as good as all the others I have had.IMG_8615.jpg

Well, that's a long story. This is the short short short version....

My 2nd Gen was pretty decent but it nickel and dimes me to death. I paid cash for the truck and on average of 42 months the truck cost 619.00 per month in repairs.
This obviously couldn't continue, and that's when I purchased the Tundra. Not every month was a break down, but every couple months is was expensive. The truck was used hard and when it went to auction it had 195k miles.

My 3rd Gen common rail was a great truck until the dealership put their dick beaters on it. At 42k miles I took the truck into the dealership to have the valve lash adjusted. The lead diesel mechanic messed up the job and forgot to tighten down the rocker bridge. Well I drove off from the dealership and got about 1/8th mile and the motor wadded up and compression locked. It was downhill from there until 75k miles and it was going to cost me a marriage.

Check out the 2022 HO Cummins trucks. They have been eating motors.

PD Diesel power is a commercial hot shot with (I think 8 2022's) and has had horrible engine problems. Some of his older trucks have 5-800k miles without a lot issues.
