What an idiotic thing to say, seriously.

I was aluding to the fact that my wife is armed. She trains with a pistol and has carried for the last 10yrs.

Her being barely 5'1" & 110lbs, she likes to stack the deck in her favor.

An Oklahoman who grew up around firearms with her father.

Seriously, give them your keys while your at it.

Some people just don’t get the idea, they think choosing to arm yourself is some choice to be some vigilante stopping crime.

It’s quite the opposite and more selfish. It’s all about having an advantage in the worst case scenario, and improving odds of survival for yourself and your family. Not a guarantee, and there is a lot of nuance in escalation of force, but the weapon is an equalizer when in a trained persons hands.

I always carry an Sig P365 macro on me, in truck I recommend a truck gun. I have a super short barrel 300 BO AR pistol. I’ve done a fair amount of training shooting around and through vehicles and 9mm is super unpredictable especially through windshields or glass. Either go 10mm or 300 BO.

But all this is a choice and to each their own on how they weight risk vs benefit.

    Thanks.

To me, the idiot thing is the victim in the video, she held on to the purse and resisted an armed attacker.

It was an honest question. Again, it's coming from a place where we do NOT carry weapons and are not even allowed to :infantry:. I would guess most Law Enforcement Officers in Canada, would tell you not to fight back. It's a different mentality, doesn't mean we are weak or incapable.

Rule 1 after you get in your car in a parking lot, lock the doors.

are you allowed to carry pepper spray? I always have pepper spray and a bright flashlight in reach. Not in context to this specific video, but responding more to the fact that you are in Canada.

Even for me as an armed person with the freedom to arm, I carry a variety of tools within reach to give me options to solve problems with the least amount of force.

And you are right in so many ways, awareness is key, daily habits like locking doors immediately, little things that you can do to make yourselves a harder target.

No, unless it's deamed "necessary" (Bear Spray in the woods, trails, etc, perhaps a Mailperson carrying Dog spray). No lawyer or officer would charge someone for using it in a self defense situation though.

But the bad guys all carry it and use it on innocent people all the time.

man that’s tough. I don’t like it when the people in power tell me what I “need” or is “necessary.” When thugs are gonna do what they will do. Especially with something as basic as pepper spray. And of course you know their neighborhoods have extra security, travel with an entourage ect.

This right here is interesting... It's almost like they're following suit with California. All the resource officers when I went to school were cool af... Half our Principals were OGs had tatted sleeves, before it was cool I guess...

I did say cops. Horseman aren’t cops. Those are usually guys who couldn’t get a job in a “real” police department.

I've kind of adopted that way of thinking lately. If they want my empty wallet and cheap watch, I'll give it to them.

If they are in my house or car, it will be a different story though. I should probably consider arming myself while it's still legal.

In every class I have taken (no less than a dozen or more in the last three years) and having wear and carry permits in multiple states, I can say that EVERY class and training that I have taken says to give up the purse or car in these situations. I am not saying that that’s what would happen in my case, BUT that’s the way things are taught. No material goods are worth a life. It’s very easy to say “this is what I would do” in a high stress situation that lasts mere seconds - the FIRST thing that goes in fine motor skills. Critical thinking is decreased. And the reality is there is a HUGE responsibility on the shooter to validate “life threatening danger” in these cases that cost tens of thousands of dollars to litigate……

it’s bad enough that I don’t honk or flip people off anymore. Nor do I comment,on people parking in handicap or fire lanes. Used to be able to shame people and they’d sheepishly move the car.

now they lip you back at the least, or want to fight. A Canadian was stabbed to death in Vancouver because he asked a guy to not vape around his kid. Thank god for our strict gun laws, lol.

BUT come in my house and it’s a different ball game.

I know I may never have what I have now if something 'happens' and I am always carrying
