Hello new member here. I thought this might be a good way to possibly find out if anyone has experienced a tick in the motor . it goes away does not stay long at all. are there valve adjustments? could it be a timing chain issue?. the truck has great power ,does not miss at all.
so far i have heard it twice. not liking that sound I'm hoping I'm not doing any damage. i have 245000 miles on it never miss an oil change. good up keep

This is a common thing with these engines. I would venture to say if it a happens on cold start ups and random ticking from driver side or passenger side engine it would be timing chain tensioner. Common issue until the tensioners build pressure. This is just a common possible issue although there can be others

Thank you very much for the info much appreciated! so would the solution be to change the timing belt all together? i never had any motor work done yet at 245000 .

Just the timing chain tensioners… won’t know till you’re in there. Maybe post a video of the noise?

Don't rule out the fuel injectors. They can get pretty noisy.
