I have a 2021 SR5 and recently noticed that the toggle between high beams to low beams does not work in the Auto position.

Anyone have any ideas why this might occur?

    Thanks in advance.

When you have the switch set to auto you cannot control them, its automatic. If you turn off automatic then you can operate them independently.

    Joe,

Yes I know that part, but when a car approaches the lights do not dim, like they use to when it was new.

    what’s next???

    To All,

Yes the auto feature works for turning the lights on, but the dimming portion of the auto part is not working
when the bright lights are on. When the switch is set to Auto and you push the turn signal arm forward, the bright lights come in, but when a car approaches the lights should dim back to normal, but they don’t as I have to do it manually.

They should dim automatically as that is what it is supposed to do, but mine does not. It used to work until I drove out to Lubbock TX.

Dirty sensor? Whatever controls the auto high beam isn't seeing the oncoming traffic for some reason.

Yeah hard to believe the sensor is bad already. Could have debris blocking it causing the feature to not work.

Apart from having the headlight switch in auto, do you have the automatic high beam switch turned on in the lower left side of the dash?

    Mr. Tilley,
When I get back in my truck later today will look for it on the lower left side of the dash, but I don’t remember seeing anything like that before.

Should look like this switch in the middle.

Also check for a rock peck in front of the sensor camera.

This is exactly it. That little button needs to be pushed. The same icon will light up on your dash when it is pushed and your headlight stalk is forward (you still have to push the stalk forward to turn high beams on). The auto part is that when the truck senses oncoming traffic, they will dim automatically. It’s really works very well—much better than I thought it would.

The “auto” setting on the stalk just means the headlights will turn on/off when the truck is turned on/off, and they will sense which mode to run (DRL vs headlight) depending on how light it is outside. If you want auto hi-beam, you have to push the button on the lower left part of the dash that @TILLY posted a pic of.

    To All,

Well the winner is Mr. Tilley as I looked and sure enough the button was not on. I found out after I got home that my
lovely wife could not get the back window up when she took our grandsons for a ride and pushed all buttons to get it.

Thank you Mr. Tilley and all the others for your help.

That’s the best kind of fix. Glad you’re all set!
