Hey fellas, can someone with a 2000-2003 Tundra with a 4.7 get some temperatures for me?

If you are just returning from a 20 mile (or so, operating temp) trip, can you send me the temperatures of your upper and lower radiator hoses? If you could get them close to the radiator, it would really help me out. Also if you could send your ambient temp (roughly).

I am looking for the difference in the two. If one of you guys has a temp gun, I would sincerely appreciate these numbers.

I can tell you that the lower hose only gets lukewarm when the top hose is hot. The radiator does a good job reducing the temperature. If i remember Tuesday, I'll take my heat gun with me on my 35 mile trip to my folks.

This makes me feel 1000x better than I have all day. I have been burping it and spilling coolant everywhere for the last two days with the same results, as you've described.

But yes, if you could grab them for me, I would be very grateful.

I'm betting on the same horse as Jack McCarthy, but if anyone else has any input, I'm all ears. :fingerscrossed:

    162-163 top hose
119-120 bottom hose (through the gap between frame & skidplate)

    84* ambient

that was 10 min @ idle, then 2 min @ 2krpm, then another minute @ idle. With a/c running.

Is there a magical procedure for “burping” the system? Changed out my radiator this morning and it doesn’t seem to want to pull any coolant out of the overflow.

I backed down into a ditch. Get the rad cap above the heater hose on the firewall.

That's what I was wondering. It took 4 attempts to get mine purged.

I parked uphill, then down hill on the passengers side. Still couldn't get it all, so I plugged in my scan gauge and watched the temp as I slowly drove it. The temp gauge never got hot, but I had a big temp difference between the upper and lower radiator hoses.

I never got above 195 on my scan gauge, now it stays below 189 while driving normally.
