Hey guys- new member here. I'm looking to buy a '17 and trying to get a good deal before the '18's arrive.

Here are 4 deals my dealer has presented me- what do you guys think? Good deals? Can I get lower?

'17 crewmax TRD limited MSRP of $46,594 only add ons are mats trd package and entune for $41,132 out the door (I still would need to pay tax on it when I register)

'17 platinum MSRP $51,949 only add ons stepboards and tailgate insert for $46,122 out the door (would still need to pay tax when I register)

'17 platinum was a Toyota exec driven car and has 10k miles on it. MSRP of $52,074 has bed mat stepboards center console tray for $42,724 out the door (plus tax when I register)

'17 1794 TRD MSRP $51,425only upgrade is the TRD package for $45,765 out the door (plus tax when register).

Any of these too good of deals to pass up? Will they go lower? All are in silver- don't want to wait too long and not have a color choice. Let me know what you think.

A lot depends on location. I am in PA, and honestly I was not impressed by any of these prices. For context, I bought my 2017 Crew Limited TRD Off Road package, sunroof, bed liner - stickered at $48,000 or so, got for $41,900 (taxes, tags extra) in April. (I also got a crazy deal on my wife's Highlander trade - like $5K more than other dealers were offering). Now if you are in CA, I am guessing these may be good prices.

Thanks for the info- that's the truck I am looking for- limited trd sunroof- but no dealers around me have limiteds with sunroofs and trd it seems. So I have been looking at the platinums or 1794 if the deal is right. I am in the Midwest- Missouri.

yeah - none stand out to me as "too good to pass up". Someone else on the forum posted that he was able to buy an '18 for $3k below sticker. If you take that into account, you're not getting much of a better deal by getting last year's model. To me, it would be worth the extra small amount for the current year model.

Yeah- an '18 is another option. If I don't get what I think is a good deal I'll pass on the 17 and order or try to find a limited on the lot with sunroof and trd. Just not really wanting to wait another month or so for the truck.

i hear ya... patience runs thin when it comes to a new truck....

I'd just negotiate the shit out of your favorite you listed above. Go pick up that Limited (My favorite trim level)... Go there in person if you can and take everything with you to close the deal... negotiating in person carries much more weight if they can chalk up the sale then and there. This is the last weekend of the month - the best time to strike a deal. Research the shit out of truecar, ebay and so on to see what new 17's at this trim level are going for. Set your price and stick to it. just say "dear mr sales guy... i've done my research, i like your truck but there are plenty of other trucks out there. I want that one to drive home today. Here's my offer... $xxxxx. I know you've gotta go to your boss for approval but please tell him I only want one of two answers, either "Deal... we do the paper work right now" or "no deal" and i drive home - anything other than "deal" and I assume you meant to say no-deal and i go home" That should be the easiest sale they make that day.

The 1974 seems like a pretty good deal.
I'd stay away from the used platinum.

As someone else mentioned I'd go in person and try to make the deal.

Yeah- they are trying to push the platinum that a toyota regional exec drove. These were all in person offers presented to me- didn't do any internet inquiries with this dealer.

Mine came from VA. They shipped it up. If they want to make a d
i'd only add that you should try your best to figure out the invoice price of the truck you want, including all the options of the actual truck you want. Then negotiate off the invoice price. This time of year for a leftover, late in the month, I'd probably start $2,000 under invoice to see how aggressive they will be. I think you can get the invoice price of the truck and all options on truecar, but you can also try consumer reports auto.

I haven't been able to really make truecar work for me. I have the dealers dashboard or whatever the dealer software is that shows holdback etc...It shows on the limited after all options dealer price is $43,833 vs. retail price of $46,594. Are those numbers correct? Who knows. But it's that is what made me think on the limited the price of $41,132 out the door was decent.

That seems high for the dealer price. With mine, I was negotiating Off invoice price. I was at $500 over invoice, and they were at $1200 or so over. We agreed at I think $700 over invoice. With a free bedliner.

I just purchased a new '17 Platinum for almost $6k off the sticker. Of course, that included the $1500 rebate. But, I considered it to be a fair deal as I wanted a MGM Platinum, and there were not that many in my region. Couple that with an aggressive trade in price for my '11 Land Cruiser, and 2.9% for 72 months, it was a no brainer for me. I think Toyota has consistently been a little "tighter" with discounts vs. the domestic brands. I am sure that contributes to the higher resale value combined with the reliability/build quality. At the end of the day, if the deal is fair and it makes you happy, then go for it.

Toyota just does not play the MSRP game like the others do. Ford and GM just mark em up a lot more to offer big discounts to make people feel good. I priced Gms and Tundras. Including rebates a $51,000 Silverado was quoted at $39,300 whereas my $46,500 Tundra was $39,500WP_20170822_19_15_04_Pro.jpg WP_20170822_19_14_42_Pro.jpg

Beautiful truck! And agreed, the domestics offer bigger rebates unlike Toyota.

Not only rebates but dealer discounts too. Sales lady drove a chrome version up initially and thought oh no they sold the blacks over the weekend. Real happy with it so far. MP display is reading 17.2 @ 356 miles. I filled it this morning and it took 18.4 gallons which is 19 mpg. I am thinking the dealer topped it off. Another gallon would put mpgs @ 18. About 90% hwy miles @ 60 to 70 mph. I had heard that the MPGs for the Tundra really sucked during break in but apparently not all. My Tacoma increased from 0 miles to about 5000.

Nice. 19 mpg sounds good to me!

$6,000 off sticker this time of year a place to try and get to?

Seems like $6,000 is about all I can get dealers to come down. All the prices I have been given are below invoice except the limited. Was few hundred over.

It seems like you've done your homework and pounded the pavement in your geographic region. This very well may be the market, and you'll have to live with it, or walk. If you're comfortable you've tested them (i.e., $2,000 below invoice and they said "no way,"), you probably have a decision to make. That said, you still have 6 days left in the month. Assuming no one else swoops in and buys your truck, I am willing to bet they will come down much more.

Just dawned on me that the dealer took the truck to get bedliner done. When I back off 40 miles the display is dead on. On pricing most dealers around here discount about $2500 plus rebate on trucks with $3500 rebate. They do a bigger discount on ones with $1500. One dealer was really fussing when I tried to push below $39k on a TRD OR. It seems me that $6k off is a magic number no matter the rebate. All the dealers I got quotes from were fairly close. I had one brag that he could beat the pants off another but he never produced the goods.

They got back to me and took $250 off the limited and will do the toyota corporate driven platinum with 10,000 miles for $40,000. Seems tempting at that price but I don't know who put the 10,000 miles on it.

I picked up a 2017 Tundra SR5 CM 5.7L 4x4 last night - with TSS pkg as well for $38500...came to $42k out the door before down payment, etc. Shopped around and negotiated several places and thought I got a pretty good deal but always like to check with others. MSRP was $48k and change

I do know that I found it pretty ridiculous (awesome if you are an owner) that I see used 1-2 year old models with 20-30k miles listed for more than I paid for mine....some 4-5 year old with 60-70k miles didn't get out of the 30's......I about hit the floor when I first started shopping around...geez!

    None to date but coming!
I picked up a 2017 Tundra SR5 CM 5.7L 4X2 last week with the XS-P package for $38K. Truck had 11 miles on it and got an extra year of service as well added on. They had 2016 Tundra CM SR5 with 30k miles for more then what I paid. Sticker on it was $49K so I am very happy where i came out.
