What is the main factor affecting the payload of the TRD PRO? I’m assuming it’s the off road suspension? Would airbags allow me to load closer to the 1900lb max of the lower trim tundras?

The additional weight of the drivers ego significantly reduces payload.

I have a base model 2wd DC 8' bed (2021, but still applies).
Other than a RC 8' bed, even with the longer frame, it's probably the lightest tundra config there is. I have around 1800 left over for payload with my base config.
That said, I'd say a small portion is due to the suspension setup, but mostly it's all the features that add weight and lower payload.
You'd be surprised how fast everything adds up.

Oh, and air bags won't increase payload.
Just help reduce sag and maybe a little body roll stability.

I find the 3rd gen platform so fertile that to bogart is simply unjustified.

    Plenty for all!

On the 4Runner, the e-locker, manual t-case, and extra electronics reduced payload by about 400 lbs.

Adding airbags will reduce your payload by the weight of the airbags.

Payload is limited primarily by the strength of the axles, chassis, brakes, and power train. Updating suspension components will reduce the obvious sag and bottoming out of the springs, but not increase the safe maximum payload.

That said, Toyota seems to be very cautious about their payload ratings and many people have posted that they have safely exceeded the indicated payload and towing limits of their Tundra.

Need to update that. 4R is out and sequoia is out. Now it’s Tacoma, 1794 LE and Land Cruiser.

Shit my payload just dropped some more

GVWR. Every feature and package you add reduces the weight carrying cause it adds weight. Only positive to a base model 2wd. All things considered Toyota is known for some of the most conservative ratings also.

But the people that were unsuccessful could not post.
