Ball joint.

    A lower ball joint failed on my 01. Having allot of trouble extracting the remainder of the lower ball joint from the control arm.

    you know it's integral with that bug chunk of metal, (steering knuckle?) right? You can't separate the ball joint from that.

    4 bolts should let this whole part come out...

    but you can't pull the ball joint from that part... well i'm sure you can, but it's a road to nowhere...

    yes, you need to pull off the tie rod from the rack & pinion
