Damn I forgot to snap a picture before I turned my truck into the shop, so I’ll add one afterwards, but I wanted to know if anyone knew what the black box to the left of my steering wheel was that says Toyota security with a red light and what appears to be a very tiny speaker hole?

is this just a fancy way of showing there’s a car alarm system or was it used for something like a key fob that got lost way in the past?

    thanks in advance.

Glass break sensor expansion for the RS3000 / RS3200 keyless entry/security system on the 1st Gens. Also flashes to let you know alarm is there.

Pardon me if my caveman brain needs clarification, but that means this truck is keyless entry configured already without taking it in anywhere? Meaning all I would need to do is find a way to get remote key made by Toyota?

You would just need to buy a remote and program it, yes. You can do the procedure yourself. No stealership required.

If it's what I'm thinking of at least, i.e. this - if so, I can link you to the thread with programming info, and it also shows where to find the RS3000 alarm ECU module:

Yes that’s what I’m talking bout excepts it’s horizontal vs vertical (what a upgrade between years lol)

please do link me the instructions, sounds like something that’s should be doable over the weekend.

I’m assuming I can order the remotes from Amazon or another site then? Got a link OR is this something where there’s a gazillion different rs3000 remotes and I need to find a specific matching number on the system somewhere before I order?

I mean, I would personally prefer to buy used OEM off fleaBay, but the choice is yours. You can absolutely program new remotes on your own, there's a thread about RS3000 units here (since it's more difficult, be sure to read the whole thread), RS3200 programming is here. You don't have a double cab, so I won't warn you about some DCs having special RS3200 programming.

I want to say the RS3000 has a vertical like that and the RS3200 is horizontal, but I'm on a lot of pain meds right now so my memory is definitely not working. I didn't think RS3200 came into play until late '02-'03 or something.

When do you get your truck back?

    So yours looks like this?

In that case, I would check here for the ECU: https://www.tundras.com/threads/key-fob-replacement-2002-tundra.55779/page-6#post-2362012

It seems it may not be obvious, but the recurring theme I've seen is this connector with blue wires which somehow loops back to the module, I think?

And if you find the foam-wrapped ECU for keyless and it's RS3000 printed on it like others saw (pic here), The fob you need is this one, with FCC ID of BAB237131-022

Wont get the truck back for another couple hours.. having them undercoat it with surface shield (don’t have a lift or jacks rn) and check a whole bunch of preventative items while it’s there. I’ll take a picture when I have it back. Don’t know which system it is exactly, maybe it’s in my owners manual? I’ll prob stick with OEM fobs like shifty recommended

Yeah, that's part of TVIP. You should also be able to find the brain in the truck. You should be able to get the remotes with the DCC ID mentioned.
