    Brute force bumpers/sliders, OME 3" lift, SCS ray 10 wheels, ARB onboard air compressor, GX460 big brake upgrade, JBA UCA's, siberian Bushings, RCV high clearance axles, 333 Billet steering rack clamp, TMR customs 10" front limit straps, 1" diff drop, agility customs dual battery setup/battery isolater with heavy duty wiring/ grounding cable upgrade, F-er battery tray, HFW spindle gussets, remote oil catch can,
    I'm looking at skid row and RA motorsports aluminum. Skid row is all 3/16 steel and RA is 1/4 aluminum (overland and the beefier Moab upgrade). My question is, is the aluminum really strong enough to handle a solid blow from a rock on a trail and would a solid skid row plate from front to back add a noticeable amount of weight being steel. I have brute force bumpers and frame sliders and want to add plates for the trails.

    5052. The standard overland grade is flat 1/4" and the Moab upgrade is just tig welded reinforced gussets in impact zones from what I can tell.

    Aluminum is strong enough for reasonable impacts, but sucks for sliding over stuff. It's softer and will gouge and grip more than steel. If you're not going to be grinding over rocks then the weight savings are substantial.
