Looks like you might need a new frame

Toyota doesn't sell frame sections and doesn't ever recommend a frame repair. You will need a new a frame. You'll also need to repair the back of the cab if it got dented. You'll also need a new bed, bedsides, and new fenderflares. Its a big job to be made whole again. Also check your driver seat to see if any damage occurred.

I've been through this with my 2012 tacoma and it was almost totalled. Find out what your insurance thereshold is in relation to your ACV and hope for the best.

Get truck totalled, buy back cheap and keep driving an option?

Totaled. See this all the time on Tacomaworld.com on the 2nd gens. Those frames have a spot where they're notorious for bending when getting rear ended. It seemed majority of the time insurance totaled them out.

Update- needs new frame insurance quoted at 16740 to replace frame and tailgate and hitch… didn’t add a bed… the place doing the work said it is going too bed a new bed what kind of cost would that add to the bill? I am honestly surprised they are not totaling the truck based on that it will take 12-18 weeks to get the frame

Your body shop will submit supplements to the insurance company. If they don't total it and approve the work. I say have it done. My old tacomas frame was replaced and it was like nothing happened after the repair.
