Tried using the search bar but didn’t find what I was looking for. (Might have done it wrong, new to forums).
What brand of oil seems to be the best, going to start doing my own oil changes bc the prices are stupid now. 2016 5.7L with 111K

It's oil. Pick a synthetic one that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside, and change it every 5,000 miles.

Be prepared for a series of: use the search bar feature, personal preferences and experences, and whats on sale at wallyworld comments.

Think the general consensus is that changing your oil regularly with the type suggested by your owners manual far exceeds any noticeable difference one brand over another will bring (unless your in special circumstances, off roading, freezing climate, etc.) What type of filter to use is another story, and would do some research about that, as for the first gen at least OEM tends to be suggested as the top dog.

That being said, id take a look on project farm's youtube on engine oil and thought that was pretty interesting if your more into the scientific data in terms of any differences.

If you live near Costco they have their Kirkland brand oil on sale till 9/24. They have 2, 5qt. jugs for $30.99 . Can't beat that for 10 quarts.

If you don’t have one nearby (or it’s not convenient to go to), you can also order online. I ordered a 4-pack of 5-quart jugs for $64. Delivered.

I use Kirkland 0w/20 with the open Toyota oil filter every 5000 miles. No issues so for.

Anyone know the difference between Mobil one high mileage (what i use OP) and the brown one for trucks/suvs? Prob no distinguishable difference but thought that was interesting… I know the high mileage one is “supposed” to help rubber from leaking or something

Marketing is all it is I'd imagine...perhaps more molidnium and zinc-derivitives to aide in lubrication...Valvoline VR1 is a solid oil too that has higher values of zinc...I'm changing from M1 to it for a while in 5w30 format...

I believe VR1 is not recommended for vehicles with catalytic converters.

Noted... I'm not certain how the oil can contaminate the fuel, but I'll look into it, thanks.
