Well, I thought I'd make a post about it. With pics of course. Finally just finished the big job of needle scaling the entire frame ( every inch that I could), wire brush everything and then fluid film.

What.a.job. insane. So nice that it's done now though, very cool. Used 1 gallon and 1 spray can of fluid film, didn't do the whole underside of bed, not yet Anyways. For now, I'm done. Lol.

It's a sucky job, and I'm sure the whole time you're thinking, 'gosh almighty why didn't the frickin' prior owner do this even just one time?!?!'

Also, does that parking brake line look a little saggy to anyone else? I know there's some variation on those. Any problems with it engaging and releasing, @Aaol1?

Yea that's exactly what I was thinking haha. That thought about the previous owners is for like, every part of the truck lol.

And yes, my rear breaks need help, the ebrake does pretty much nothing right now. It's on the list!

Looks so much better. Did you use black Fluid Film? Is that why it looks black now?

Nice work, did you use the fluid film in the rattle can or did you have it in a spray gun when you applied? I normally just use the cans. I love the stuff and use it underneath my trucks. @FirstGenVol I bet he used the regular fluid film. When I applied it to my frame it darkened the frame and made it look black in color.

Yea I did the 1 gallon with a spray gun, went really well but its easy to apply very thick, I think I went very thick on some spots... oh well. I knew I was gonna run out before I was done so I had bought 1 can just in case, and sure enough I used about 3/4 of the can.

I have been wanting to try the spray gun but just haven’t got around to getting one. The great thing about it is you can just take a rag and wipe off the excess in those areas where its thick and reapply it somewhere else.

Nice job with the prep and coating. It's a miserable task.

Did you get the top of the spare tire cross member? That's the problem area for those. It's a stupid design that traps dirt and moisture. On the Gen-2 they flipped it so it doesn't do that.

    Thanks!

Yep I sprayed compressed air in there like, alot.. then I sprayed fluid film with the 360 nozzle all over the inside, and outside. Obviously couldn't get the needle scaler in there, but did what I could

Love getting 15 year old dirt and grime all over myself lol.. definitely a gross job.

The e-brake cable is sagging. The ebrake lever is stuck on that side. I had that issue with my old axle...

That's actually with my ebrake off... the driver is quite tight, the passenger is very loose. I've moved both springs by hand and they aren't stuck
