    First post here,

2006 Toyota Tundra 4.0 V6 6 speed manual bought last year 241,000 miles

zero rust as it is a California truck.
Started truck, drove less than a mile, shut truck off went inside work for an hour, came back on tried to start truck and it wouldn’t turn over.

simple I thought, replaced starter. Which unlike the V8 was super simple.
Got into the truck turned the key, nothing still. So since then, I have had the battery checked twice, once at oriellys once at auto zone, checked out. Replaced starter relay, and checked all fuses. Replaced Alt 120 and A/pump 60( which I’d rather do brain surgery). The rest of the truck has power except for the alternator plug/terminal. And the activator plug (the plug in the bottom of the starter) the solenoid has power.

Right now I have the alternator and the battery in my wife’s truck to take to Oreillys tomorrow to replace both.

Going on the basis that this doesn’t work because nothing has worked so far, any ideas? OBD2 port read no codes. However, I’ll test again tomorrow when I replace everything because this has been 3 months in the making and I need to get to Idaho next month to elk hunt.

What makes you suspect the alternator? The common theme with these older trucks is usually wiring related. Loose or corroded wires will not transmit enough juice to activate the starter, a high amperage draw electric motor. You don’t need an alternator to start the truck. You need a good starter, good battery, good ignition switch, good relay and good power and ground wires. Truck will run for a while without a working alternator until the battery dies. So a truck that won’t start with a supposed good battery is not an alternator problem.

There has been more than one time where a battery that "tested" ok was in fact the source of a problem.

Alternator, because I’ve replaced everything else. I forgot to mention, new positive and negative cables with terminals fixed to them.

So what happened when you tried it with a new battery?

Tested the battery, has 550 CCA. Didn’t replace that nor the alternator. Ended up pulling the the wire to the starter I like to call it the activation wire. Anyhow, it is green. I’m waiting on a new pig tail that should be here Friday or Saturday, and I’ll replace the wire today.

    Update, still no crank

replaced battery because it was under the 2 year warranty

    replaced starter “activator” pigtail
Replaced whole wire from EB2 connector on down to the new pigtail.
    replaced ignition switch

still no power going to activation wire.

any insight, before I take it to the shop? Only reason it hasn’t gone down a because I’m not really wanting to trust the garages up here in 29 Palms. Im trying to go hunt Elk in 3 weeks in Idaho

At this point have you looked at the fuel pump is getting enough psi to the injectors? you need to get enough psi to start it. I would check that next.
