Rags soaked with pine sol every few weeks and bars of pink Dove soap in the engine bay. Check your cabin filter, they are likely all up in the hvac vents. One member here nearly died from parasites caused by mice inside his truck.

Welcome! That sucks. Do a search and you’ll find tons of info in addition to the already good info given by these folks.

Just had to replace the air filter to the engine due to mice getting in and chewing. Why is there such a huge gateway for the mice to climb up in there and how have to guys blocked it but still allow air flow to the engine?

I formed a piece of wire mesh and used silicone to secure it in place from the inside. Never had the problem again.

Why are you making things difficult for them? Now mice will need to use the front entrance and chew through the intake pipe.:sawzall:

I wondered about using hardware cloth but thought the holes might be big enough for them to slip through. Worth trying though for sure.

Bastages! Some of us have tried to help prevent the little fargin bastages getting into the cabin. Check out this thread for ideas. As for repellents, I occasionally spray water with some essential oils (peppermint, eucalyptus, rosemary) for mice/rats and bitter apple for squirrels (which were my problem) around the engine compartment.
