Recently purchased this truck that was sitting in a back yard and I was told it needed a fuel pump. When I first checked we had power to the fuel pump, so after replacing the pump it still will not start. When I turn the key it tries to start but doesn't so we started tracking this issue at the fuse box. We have dash lights and other lights that work.

When checking the fuse box under the hood only half of them actually show as having power to them while the others do not and the fuses look good.

Has anyone ever experienced this before and if so what was the issue? Looking for suggestions on what's next from a Toyota Tundra Enthusiast!!!

Is your battery good? Battery will probably not have anything to do with not having power to half the fuse box. A dying or bad battery will be the reason the truck wont start. Is there any damage to the wiring sitting in some field will make a good and reliable fast food restaurant for rodents, so you will need to track some of those harnesses. Also, the link below will be your best friend to track the power point to some of the fuses and relays. Also check your grounds to ensure there is no power due to an improper grounding. Hope this helps you resolve the issue.

Thank you for the response blackdemon_tt!! That link is why I became a member (need an account to open those diagrams).

The battery is good and I have it on charge just to be safe. I'm hooking it up to a computer tonight in hopes of finding the cause. Also going to keep testing fuses. Again, half the fuses show as having power while the other half does not. I have also been checking for broken, chewed or unconnected wires/grounds and only found one ground on the transmission that was broken, which was been fixed. Might be checking into the immobilization/anti theft as the cause too even though there is not a light on on the dash. I read where that could cause the truck not to start.

So far everything I have googled doesn't match the symptoms I'm encountering.

Again any help is greatly appreciated.

What does it do when you turn it over? Does it just click? Does it crank?

Can you post a picture or something showing which fuses have power and which do not?

The code reader might give you codes because the truck doesn’t see some of the ECUs. You already know you have a power issue, the question is where?

First thing I'd suspect would be rodent damage and I'd be inspecting every inch of the harness. It happens to daily-driven Tundras, I'd imagine greater likelihood based on the parked situation you mentioned.

    Thanks for all the responses.

The truck did crank and would start with starter fluid, which told us we were not getting fuel. The computer told us the relay was good as well, so we had to go back towards the tank. I ordered a Fuel Pump Drive Module which I hopeful that will be the cause. Once I removed the old one, some of the fuses in the box started reading as having power that didn't while it was hooked up, not sure if that's even related?

A new fuel pump control ECU resolved my issues and the truck starts.

Now I need to know why the fuel gauge is not reading correctly after installing a new fuel pump?
