Hi, simple question I’m just wondering where is located the high pressure fuel pump? I got a noise from the passenger side at idle, very quiet but still hear something specially from the passenger side wheel well.I’m just wondering if it’s could be the pump.

They usually are driven off the cam shaft but not sure on the Tundra. The 3.5 Ecoboost pump is mounted on the rear of the drivers side valve cover.

But i suppose it could be off the timing belt/chain like most diesels

Thanks! From the video it’s on the driver side and when the hood is close the sound dump into the wheelwell specially on the driver side and that is mostlikely what I heard. Your can clearly hear the pump when the hood is open!

If it’s from passenger side wheel well. Could be the electric water pump.

High pressure pump is located on passenger side valve cover. Normally can be heard right after cold start for 5-10 seconds as engine initially runs on direct injection before switching to port injection and quiets down.

Yes. It’s quiet down but still there when hot. It’s switch to port but if you give it throttle it switch back to direct and takes a moment before it switch back to port again. Honestly at first I tought a rod bearing wanted to leave the party ahaha

Did you know if the pump on the tundra is lubricated by oil like diesel or by the fuel itself? I know it’s drive-in by the camshaft but the pump itself is it reliate to oil by any case like if oil will change anything on the noise or it’s purely mechanical from the pump? Thanks again
