Question for the group. I've got a 2019 Tundra, and I was in the process of installing an Auxbeam 8 gang controller. I got the mount and relay box all setup.

When I attempted to run the controlling cable, I took extra caution to create a small 3/4" slit in the grommet to the left of the main harness. I used a straightened coat hanger, and created a hook at the end with the cable hooked to it and wrapped it in electrical tape to fish it through. The coat hanger was able to easily move through the left side of the grommet and out the otherwise into the footwell while still steering clear of the main harness.

As I attempted pull the rest of the cable and connector through, the hook on the end of the hanger sheered off the cable connector and left the electrical taped up connecter stuck inside of the grommet.

I've ordered a new cable as the old one was not usable, and I'll run it through the nipple next time.

I attempted to cut the grommet inside the cab to figure out where it was stuck, and I was able to feel the taped up connector, I was able able to pull it out. I think the only way to get it to it is to enlarge the cut in the grommet inside the engine bay and pull it back out from there.

In looking at wiring diagram, the grommet seems to be pretty large and the main harness is wrapped and bundled.

My question is, should I just leave the taped up cable connector inside the grommet or should I slice the grommet open to try and recover it?

    Photo of the connector attached.

    Any guidance would be appreciated.

    Thank you.
