Last weekend I installed OME 2884 springs on Bilstein 5100s. I used new KYB top hats and the Energy Suspension isolators.

They assembled correctly, but now after driving for a week I noticed the Energy Suspension isolators are getting pushed out of place by the springs. Bulging out like the springs are applying too much upward force and stretching the isolators way too much around the springs. Anyone with the same setup encounter this/have any tips?

5100s are meant for stock height coils and lift is gained by clip setting. Those springs are 2 inch lift I think, so they could be too long.

The only energy suspension isolators I see are for Monroe quick struts. Is there another product they make for other springs?

Yes, others on here have used the 9.6104 universal isolators in combination with the OME coils for lift. That is what I used unsuccessfully

Yep. Energy suspension poly isolators smushing out? -- check. Happened to me. Twice. Found it happened to lots of folks all over FB groups too. I switched to the KYB rubber isolators and been perfect ever since. Part # KYB SM5413.

That's the same part number I used with both my Dobinsons springs. One teal just like that

Well that sucks! Thank you for the reply and for your pics. Looks like I’ll be going back to rubber.
This is frustrating because I bought new KYB top hats, and threw out the rubber isolators that came with them… and trash pickup just happened yesterday… what a bummer!

    Go figure.

IMG_0003.jpg Update: got around to addressing this issue today. Swapped the bad Energy Suspension isolators for KYB rubber isolators and all is well in the world again.

Let this serve as a warning to others who want to use OME coils on their FGT: the frequently recommended Energy Suspension poly isolators may fail very quickly!
