Hey welcome back to an episode of what's this! Lol jokes, I was just poking around and so happen to come across this super greasy part, not sure what it is( AC?) . Also my AC doesn't work. So:

What's this greasy part, and where could the grease/ oil be coming from? Timing belt cover gasket? Valve cover gasket?

 

And I realize after a bit more research that it's the power steering pump. Do you guys think it would be leaking or is it something else around there that's leaking? Hard to tell I imagine

 

Should be the power steering pump.

It appears to me the oil covering it is coming from the valve cover, although it could be from the cam seals, which are a known leak source on the '05-'06 models. Mine were leaking also, driver's side, and a full bottle of ATP

AT-205 resolved all leaks within 100 miles are so (there's a thread on it around here somewhere). I would NOT use any other additive products. ATP guarantees their product won't over-swell gaskets when used per the instructions, not many other "fix it" products will or do guarantee the same. I used the ATP product because lots of dudes with far more mechanical experience than me swear by it, especially for rear main seal leaks.

 

Oh interesting! I didn't expect a recommendation for an additive I know it's looked down on. I wonder how much more $$$ it would be to tack on valve cover / cam seals when already paying for a timing belt job. Do you think it's alot more time for them to do it? Or like just an hour or 2 more?

Additives are normally shit, and I would never recommend them. Like, never ever.

Cam seals, you'll probably be adding another $600-800 onto your bill. It's pretty intensive and should be done at same time as timing belt/water pump and valve covers. Lots of the same parts must come off or do come off.

No prob. Check this out. This is my truck. Cam seals were leaking on the driver's side, as was the valve cover at the front corner, by the oil dipstick. Does my "coating everything below this point" look familiar to you?

AT-205 did to my truck. I am dry as a bone still, to this day. Saved myself hundreds in labor.

That's awesome! Thanks for showing me. Yea I may just consider that. Still do timing belt for sure but may use the atp for the other stuff. What would be nice would be to fully clean it up, it's insanely gummed up it must have been leaking for a long time

You can. Honestly, the best stuff I've found, and I think @FirstGenVol can vouch for it after trying it out, here's his experience.

It helps to have a good stuff brush kit.

So if I understand correctly I can just pour it into oil or power steering? Do I have to remove some oil or power steering fluid first as to not overfill?

AT-205, it saved me from replacing or repairing my steering rack. It's good stuff.

 

Correct, directly in.

Given how much oil you've been leaking, you may not even need to remove any from the crankcase, just pour one full bottle in there.

For the power steering, same thing, you've been leaking, look at current level, add if it's a bit low.

It'll help rejuvenate the seals and hopefully save you some coin.

 

Kk that makes sense , thanks! I know it says one 8oz bottle treats 6qt, I could do some research, but off the top of your head do you know how much you used in your oil job? Any idea for power steering?

 

Don't know OTOH for power steering. Crankcase holds 6.5, so one bottle basically is a half ounce shy of treating everything. I used one single bottle in the crankcase and it did the job for me.
