    Hi there,

I'm looking to buy a used 16 or 17 4x Tundra and am doing my prepurchase research. I rent dumpster trailers and am looking to upgrade from my wheezy Ford F150. With the towing capacity, HP and reliability I'm going with a Tundra. All my loads are under 10k pounds, so I feel this is a good choice for me. My competitors generally use diesels, but I really don't need and surprise turbo (etc, etc, etc) failures ruining my bottom line.

Where can I find a simple explanation of the different models (1794 etc)?

What options do you all like?

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! For best towing you probably want to go with fewer options that add weight, and a double cab instead of a crew cab, or even a standard cab if you can find one. The 1794 is the same as the platinum with signature leather interior and a different grill. The TRD Pro has upgraded shocks for more off-road use. The Limited is a lot of folks preferred compromise between added features and lower cost. The SR5 has the basic features but is better suited for towing due to being a bit lighter. The details differ a bit year to year, but that is the gist of it.

Welcome from OKC! For your purpose, I would regear differentials to 5.29's, upgrade the brakes, and add Roadmaster Active Suspension HD kit.
