Hello everyone I'm Jeremy and new to the toyota family! Started off great, loved the truck and everything about it! 1 week into having bought it I decide to install a pace edwards powered tonneau cover and was successful in doing so all the way up to running the wire to the battery for power! Found grommet above steering column to the left in the firewall and decided to go that route. My friend stuck a metal wire( a little heavier than a coat hanger) through the grommet for me to tape a wire to and pull it through the fire wall. When he did, all the sudden the a/c quit blowing air completely, but successfully got wire through the wall. After trying to turn the ac back on realized it would not, so turned the truck off, and then when tried to start it up again, no success. Immediately start checking fuses, found 30 amp(the square type) in kick panel fuse box was blown, replaced it, then 2 10 Amp fuses were blown in fuse box under the hood, replaced them. Got the truck to crank but it had no throttle, no driver side brake light, ac still don't won't work, alternator not able to keep truck running when unhook the battery, etc. So I go buy the main fuse from dealer and return to remove the original one. But it is good per multi-metter via continuity testing! So am in the middle of reinstalling the main fuse. Now I can't remember exactly where the main wire from battery connects too? I'm so stressed and agitated I can't think straight! Please help!!!

So the wire was hooked to the battery and powered as you pulled it through the firewall? Grounded out and created a short I assume.

Are you sure the entire main fuse assembly is good? It’s a block of several fuses if I remember correctly.

Can you give some more detail on exactly which fuses blew and were replaced? Also try to list out why systems are dead with no power.

Have you checked all the fuses in the interior fuse box? Some people don’t realize the truck has two fuse boxes.

Thanks for the responses! To answer the questions that I can, the wires I pulled through the fire wall were not ever hooked up to the battery, yes the fuse block /main fuse was all good. And after all this last night, not placing blame on anyone that helped me at all, I appreciated the hell out it!!! But after I changed the main fuse I decide to go check all the fuses again bc while I was running back and forth to the store the night before, my friend said he checked all the fuses by hand, well I bought a multimeter while at the store was just to aggravated to crawl in the floorboard again to check them that night. Back to the part where after the main I decided to check them again last night and low and behold there was 2 fuses way up in the back that were hard to see, only new to look further by using the cover and counting them one by one as I checked them and they were blown! They were the ignition fuse and I believe throttle position senser fuse! Replaced them and she fired right up and runs perfect again! Thank you God! And everyone else who help or took the time to read my post and respond! It's a great feeling to have people to call upon and ask for help by! Thank you again, will definitely be coming here in the future to get or offer any help I can!

Always make sure to disconnect the battery whenever working on electrical or you run the risk of cooking something.

Glad you got it figured out, but I would check to see if he nicked any wires in the area he was punching through or you will have this issue pop up again no doubt.
