So I went to my truck which I don't regularly drive. Started it and drove it for a half hour or so. Came back to the truck a couple of weeks later and nothing. No electrical power anywhere. Checked under the hood and RATS! They chewed up the wires from the bottom side of the fuse box. Spent a few hours cutting and splicing wires. Checked it and it started up but had thrown a check engine light. Went back under the hood, cleaned up the wiring and checked each fuse then went to start it but there was no electrical power anywhere in the cab. Check the fuse box inside the cab but didn't find any blown. I pulled the main fuse (under the hood) but I can't see if any are blown. I'm at a loss right now. Any ideas? Thanks!

Do you have power to other things like headlights/brake lights or is everything out including the cab? Main fuses are sometimes tough to see where they are blown.

Thanks for your response. There's no power inside the cab. I haven't physically checked but I'm assuming there isn't any power. When I turn the key over, there's no lights on the dash, no noise and no interior lights. Hope what I've said makes sense. Thanks again.

If you have nothing and are confident with your wiring repairs, I would check the battery cables/ground. If that all checks out, test the main fuse to see if you somehow blew it during the repairs. How's your battery btw?

I did check the battery and ground. Both are good. I pulled out the main fuse but couldn't tell if one was blown. How can I check and what does it look like? Thanks again.

Do you own a test light? If not, pick one up they're pretty cheap. You can check the fuses by attaching the cable to the negative terminal on the battery, and then touching the point to the fuse terminals. If you hit both sides and you get no light, the fuse is blown.

When I get more time, I'll try that. How can I see if the main fuse is blown by looking at it. I pulled it out but couldn't tell. Thanks again for your help.

Call your insurance company. They will pay to have it repaired. Went through this with my Mom’s car. Comprehensive coverage will pay for the damage.
