If I put headers on a tundra with the 5.7 paired with the American thunder flow master would the headers cause American thunder to drone badly.

    First, welcome from TX!

Second, Flow Master is also known as Drone Master.

What if I get one of the quieter ones but I want a little bit of sound and headers for looks and some sound. Just want to know how the headers would be with a system on it. The muffler is pretty big though.

I have the full ARH system with Pure Thunder mufflers and they don't drone but I'm unaware of anything else when it comes to drone. Your best bet is to call up @dirtydeeds (Keith) and he'll put you on the right path.

    I second @dirtydeeds

Legit business with tons of research, dyno runs to test, and drone solutions. He is the preferred vendor by the vast majority on this site.

What else is done to the truck? If you simply want headers so you can tell your buddies you have headers, no problem!

But, for the cost, there may be other things you can do to wake that truck up. If you have larger tires, have you considered a set of lower ratio axle gears and a tune? Not cheap, but neither are good headers and a good exhaust. Will make more of a difference though!

If he is looking to open the truck up, this is a 4k pkg from National speed to max out an NA truck. Claim is (up to) an extra 40hp.

    • S&B Filters air-intake system
    • American Racing Headers 1.875" primary ID long-tube headers with high-flow catalytic converters
    • OEM Toyota exhaust manifold gaskets
    • HP Tuners or VF Tuner credits
    • Custom dyno calibration

DAP has dyno tested the following combination for a 70hp gain on NA 5.7:

ARH headers exhaust system, AFE Dry filter, SABM, DAP Tune (insert other desired custom tune probably)

Curious to see some real world results on this! Also, I’m assuming that the $4K is parts only? Guessing another $2,500 to $3,000 in labor by the time it’s done?

Crazy. I haven’t looked into them, but guessed a good set of headers was a couple grand. Plus a grand for a nice exhaust. No clue what catalytic converters cost these days….

I stand corrected. I’d assumed that $4K was not enough to cover all of that with install and tuning.

You’re referring to a Catback that will drone with or without headers.

ARH headers and mid pipes are about $2200 by themselves. They take 8-10 hours to install.

I’ve designed thousands of systems for tundras and sold tens of thousands. I’m happy to answer any questions. 760-877-4234
