You can, but there are some other complications you should consider.

Here is an entire thread on the subject: Interchange 8in for 14in display?

The high-level summary: Once you swap the head unit you'll be limited to only Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You lose out on SiriusXM, Toyota 1st Party Services like Navigation, etc. I'm not sure if you retain the ability to maintain remote start. There are some complications because the S/N of your original head unit is tied to your ECU. So when you swap out head units (I.E. change the S/N) it can cause your head unit to get blacklisted. It doesn't happen to everyone, but it has happened to some. I would encourage you to read through the above thread to see all of the questions and experiences of others.

In a nutshell, if you only want to use Apple or Android only moving forward...then you should be good to go as long as you don't experience the blacklisting issue.

Thanks. Will read through it. I only use Apple CarPlay. Never used Xm or Toyota navigation. So not a big deal. Getting black listed would be a big deal tho

I did the swap. I couldnt be happier. I only use Android Auto and its perfect. If you dont care about Sirius than I would say absolutely do it. The swap is easy, takes about 20 min.

There’s too many model numbers for these units, even the non JBL. Which one did you install?

You just have to make sure you get a non-jbl version. The one I got is 86100-0C361. One other one works also but I cant remember off the top of my head but its in that thread.
