Might have to try that. My truck enjoys death metal too much, so the ticking only gets louder with the music.

Very dumb question but say it’s normal ticking and not an exhaust leak of some kind, would swapping to a noisier muffler or new headers worsen the audible noise or have no impact overall

I put JBA headers + a cat-back system on and the tick didn't change.

Tick tick tick ticking in my head!

Totally unrelated to the metal conversation earlier, don't want anyone to think I call this "metal" (maybe thrash?) but its' one of the better covers of a Joe Jackson song and it's all I can hear when people start talking about ticking.

That's a good one, for sure! Anthrax was always one of those "meh" bands for me. Few decent songs, but I always thought Testament should have been part of "The Big Four", not Anthrax.

Of course I went outside to try and it didn't do it. Slowly increased throttle too and nothing. I'll see if it happens later on when going down the road.

I finally can agree with the steering shaft seal allowing more noise in than normal. I heard it from under that side of the car the other morning when I started it up. It does get better after warm up. It never truly goes away though.

Mine doesn’t even sound 1/2 as loud as that after warm up. It’s usually much better sounding too after an oil change which i do frequently over the 21 years I've owned mine.

I also have headers + cat-back system, a lot of noise coming from those guys.
