    So I purchased a 2014 trd w Magnusson SC
It has a bullydog tuner plugged into the obd.
My question is is the tuner telling the ecm to run at the different air/fuel or is it reflashed ecm.

I guess I mean is if I unplug the bd will it still run ok?
I am just preparing myself for future repairs etc as I want to understand how my truck runs so I can know where to look for problems etc.

Is it a bullydog GT? You can remove the display with no issues. You also can look to see what canned tune has been flashed to your ecm on the bd. The 2014 you will have the Toyota flashed ecm for the SC and usually the 93 tune from BD.

    Yes it's a GT
I was curious how the truck gets its tune if it was through the ecm or the bullydog

    Too many mods to come
I recommend getting a new tune.

The canned tune from BD will show on the unit itself. It is flashed to your ecm.
I second removing the BD flash from your ecm and getting a proper tune. You should still have the Toyota flashed ecm. Is there a SD card installed in the unit? The BD Should show your VIN that has the tune on it.

I have the GT but removed it as it is a poorly written tune. You can contact BD and their support can walk you through restoring the Toyota SC flash to the ecm.

*Wanted to add that the tune may be fine for your application. The issue with BD is running other modifications beyond just the SC and exhaust.

It runs like a raped ape... I don't want to change a thing
I believe it was dyno tuned at the shop that installed it also

Ok then...to answer the original question. You don't need it plugged in. It is flashed to your ecm.
