Would love to hear more about this. I have a giant Yeti in the back of my truck at all times but have been looking into the Dometics.

If you're out for 5-6 days, how often and how much do you have to run the engine to keep things cold? Any other general usage insights for someone who has never used a plug in?

    Thanks!

Yea no prob!...so I was gone away for training with work last week, and again this week...leave home Sunday, return Friday evening...my hotel is 10 mins from the training facility so basically I've only driven the 10 mins to and from building each day (with the exception of a couple shorter trips to get gas and a trip to a local Walmart)...my batteries literally haven't dropped below 94%...I'm going to do a follow up video on this, I'm blown away at results...once the fridge reaches target temp, it draws very little power to stay cold...very impressive...this week I actually have my RV60D in my room with me (plugged into wall so I don't have to worry about ice) and my RV45D in the bed of truck plugged into inverter 24/7...that's the best part about getting the "Pro" version...I have the wheels on the 60 to make it easy getting in/out of hotel...took the wheels off the 45 and have that one currently mounted on the slide system in bed of truck

hope that helps, let me know if you need anything else...I'll have the follow up video on the channel in a week or two

If ya order a SetPower, use our channel code to save 12%...code is NitroZ18Fishing (I don't make any money from it, it's just a discount code they gave me for the channel)

I would like to know about long-term durability.

My volunteer fire company keeps a cooler with water and ice in our utility truck so we have hydration on long calls. But it requires somebody (me, as the junior officer) to keep it full with ice. In the middle of summer I have to add a bag of ice every day to keep up with it. That’s if I get ahead of the ice maker, bagging ice and storing it in the chest freezer so it fully freezes, rather than the slushy ice the ice maker produces. If not, it can be as much as 2 bags a day.

Our ice maker only holds a bag of ice, so I have to run down twice a day to bag ice just to stay on top of it. I only live 1/4 mile away, but it’s the hassle of it.

We’ve just started building a new utility truck, so something like this might be a great addition before we get too far along in the build. I’m sure it could easily be run off the 120v shore power that the truck is connected to while it’s in the station. And even if it isn’t powered while we’re out on a call it should be well-enough insulated to keep stuff cold for a couple hours.

Until I watched the video, I didn't realize how dependent this was on a separate aftermarket battery backup install. Maybe it'll work much better with a truck that is being run all day like your FD truck, every day. But I can't sacrifice any bed space for battery bank setups in addition to the cooler. I feel like I'll be finding ice if I want to leave the truck off for 24-48 hours. Would love to hear more input though!

The Dometics seem to be quite a bit lower power draw.

Yea absolutely, I'll keep the channel posted!...but so far these things are awesome...I'm in my 3rd week away from home for training, and they've been a life saver as far as keeping food/drinks cold in the truck and my hotel room!

I can't speak on Dometics, but these draw an extremely low level of power, especially once they reach temp...you'll see in one of my follow up videos, my truck can sit for 12 hours without starting and my batteries literally don't drop more than 2-3 percent (that's my RV45D plugged in in the bed and running constantly)
