Yes it was. That bumper was made by an offroad shop in CO in 2000. Had the receipts for it when I had the truck.

    Don’t think I shared this with y’all…

My younger brothers and I split the cost of an ‘06 Honda Insight that we found locally for a steal.

    IMG_8517.jpg
    IMG_8785.jpg

Not sure if you guys are familiar with them but they’re really really cool- hybrid with 5 speed, fully aluminum, 0.27 drag coefficient, built in the same factory as the NSXs and S2000s.

I’ll be driving it in college until the wintertime, and then I’ll be using the truck. I’m really excited, one round trip to the girlfriends school is ~$180 in the Tundra and ~$40 in the Insight. My brothers aren’t in college yet so they’ll get it in the summers.

I installed new shift cable bushings, fancy new shift knob, and bypassed the hybrid battery so it uses only the gas engine. The battery could easily be revived if we wanted, but a good charger/discharger is $400 and we just don’t wanna spend that, especially when it works fine without it and still gets 50mpg around town.

I briefly had a 2nd gen Insight. Gave it to my bro in law. Those first gens are cool. A guy in my neighborhood had a booger green one back in the day

I've still got a Hwuanda. Its fun as hell to drive but I haven't driven it in many many moons. It's been gathering dust in my barn. I need to bring it back to life. Its a classic. 1991. Hwuanda. Accord. It's a beast. LOL.

Damn. I can't find a picture of it anywhere. Google Photos is letting me down right now. :(

Not at all for what I was looking for - basically a 4cyl gas sipper that's exempt or soon to be exempt from emissions fun to drive, like this. Ext cab for reasons DJ supplied ... 2 or 3 JL 8w1 or 8w3 to replace the rear seat, while still having plenty of space, and keeping rear jumper seats functional in a pinch.

Define "steal", and what all is/was wrong with it?

We paid $3400 for it, which is really great considering similar condition examples usually sell for $6-8k. It’s only got 112k miles.

And the only thing wrong with it is that the hybrid battery needs to be equalized. You probably know this, but the big hybrid battery is made up of a ton of individual cells, 140 to be exact. Even though the battery pack is relatively new (5 years old), the previous owners were an older couple who would let the car sit for 4-6 months at a time as they would take long vacations.

Over time this took a toll on the battery, and it made the cells vary in charge to the point where the battery computer freaks out because one cell might be dead, even if the rest are fully charged. A grid charger/discharger will automatically charge the batteries to full, then deplete the batteries for 5 or 6 cycles. At the end of these cycles the cells in the battery will all have an even amount of charge.

A good charger/discharger is $400 and bypassing the battery is free and takes 10 minutes. Only issue is that it’s pitifully slow…

It's got the same amount of power as an old VW bug. about 65hp out of a 3 cylinder. Having the electric motors re-enter the chat would liven it up a lot!

Yeah, you can really feel the lack of power around town. The car came with a scangauge and it shows 65-75% throttle on most acceleration. On the highway, you don’t notice it much at all because there’s so little drag and rolling resistance

Ah, I saw this one near me, looks good on the outside, but bad batt, A/C sealed but not functioning (gotta open it up to repair, I'm sure), and some cosmetic. Less than I'll ultimately spend on my wheels, tires and lift. Tempting, but ... meh. I know nothing about them.

Yes. I was gonna say it's for subs, but I don't think 2 15s would fit back there.

They would, potentially two 18s or potentially three 15s, but JL doesn't make 18s, so 15s it is.

Ideally you'd want to 3/4" - 1" MDF baffle board to seal off everything from the B-pillar back. couple of 15w6 would probably rattle your damn teeth loose.
