Where on earth do you guys find the time to do all that crap?
He's out of a truck while working on it.
Shopping online for parts, hanging out in junk yards?
Making all the repairs, screening the truck for drug residue, no record of who repaired it?
Just let Toyota fix it, give you a free loaner while they do, then trade it in for something else.

@Norm3 says the brand-new truck is paid for, it can't be worth a couple of grand and spending weeks doing all this yourself on a truck you're going to get rid of.

I work 65 hours a week and would never have time for this.
I guess some of you only work part-time jobs or maybe you're retired.

pwpblue - Yes the key fob was in it! Thank God or I would have been out of luck since I never received the second fob.

It would probably still be missing but when they abandoned it after it ran out of gas, they left the driver door open and someone reported it to the PD.

get the part numbers from the toyota quote and google them for best price, buy and have shipped- takes all of fifteen minutes. You can easily fix all this stuff in a couple hours, this isn’t a massive undertaking and you’d save thousands

Aside from air tags, is there any other way to keep track of our cars? I know when I park somewhere maps gives me a notification but I’ve never been privy enough to look into it more

    What’s wrong with stock?
He is still waiting for the key fob from Toyota.

I do have an air tag in my truck just in case. GM has a system and you would think Toyota could have one with the computers especially if you signed up for navigation. Kinda Big Brother-ish

How long do those stay charged for? I’d assumed they had to be plugged in fairly regularly.

Tracking devices can be located and discarded pretty easily. I use multiple security layers on mine and most importantly don't leave the keys accessible. If leaving it for a long time or where you really need to have it, pull the ignition fuse.

No charge necessary, they are good for over a year.

Had a car stolen before and returned in similar fashion to yours. The reason they leave all the junk in there according to the cops is because they are "confused" on whose property is whose. Sorry to hear a new tundra turned soup kitchen so soon!
