I was using my torque wrench this morning and needed a 8 inch extension on it to get where I needed. Do extensions affect the torque value. I am assuming not since in simple terms torque is a a rotational linear value.

I'm saying no. Adding a cheater bar reduces the effort you need to apply to get a given torque (moment), but the head of the torque wrench will still "break" at the pre-set torque value.

Only if you are using something like a crows foot, or cheater pipe on the end of the wrench, to alter wrench length does it matter if I recall correctly. If using a crows foot or cheater pipe. You can look here for how to calculate it.

    https://www.engineersedge.com/manufacturing_spec/torque_wrench_1.htm

But it sounds like you needed depth, not additional length, so the torque value should be the same.

Not sure on this one. I have a set of extension specifically designed to limit torque to a certain amount.

Looks like general consensus is the standard extensions used in tool sets have no real affect on torque delivered.

Not so. If the extension you are using lengthens the torque wrench (torque wrench + extension length), it does affect the torque delivered. If the extension is 90 degrees from the head of the torque wrench, it doesn't.

Not until you add in a swivel or wobble extension at some angle.

Post a picture of the torque wrench, with the 8" extension showing how you're using it.

Extension as in your normal 3/8” or 1/2” extension. Not a cheater bar.

Extending in that direction should not affect anything.

Torque is linear axis through the head and straight extension.
