I have a 2021 TRD Pro. I downloaded the Toyota app and added my truck. It shows me things like my mileage and tire pressure. I tried adding/purchasing remote connect and it keeps giving me the same error message. “Unexpected error. Please try again”. I have tried using different iPhones and a Labtop and get same error.

I believe that 'service' requires you to pay an $8 subscription fee to be able to do it through your phone...

Through the app you can add and purchase that service. After selecting remote connect it gives you option to pay $8 per month or $80 annually. Then it gives you option to opt into giving data to dealership and option to send data to insurers etc. But once you confirm or decline those options and click on continue it gives me that error message.

Just to be clear I’m not getting an error message actually trying to use the remote connect service. I can’t even attempt to use the service becuase the app won’t let me add/purchase the service.

Good luck w/resolution... I don't have the app, so I can't be much help. I just remember seeing something about subscription fees to use the main functions of the app.

I had the same issue and I ended up calling remote connect customer service. I’m not sure what they did on their end but i haven’t had any issues since.
    Good Luck

I honestly can’t remember if this is the number I used, I know it was frustrating going through the prompts but once I got through the representative was extremely helpful and we were able navigate the issue pretty quickly.
I’m pretty sure I was receiving the same error that you are. If I remember correctly I think it had something to do with my email or personal information that didn’t match what they had.
    Good luck

I installed that app when I first got my truck. I kept having to sign in to do anything and several times I had to delete and re-install it to get it to work. I deleted it one last time. It’s just not worth anything really.

I love the app. I can start my truck more than 50 feet away, record my oil changes, get notified of service needed, and check the tire pressure. But my favorite thing is that I can make sure it is actually locked!

It is very handy to check and make sure you locked the door! Also to unlock and let your mother-in-law in when you forget to get the car seats out before you leave town.... Or so I have heard!

Update. The issue ended up being that Toyota had the original owner on file (Truck was built and sold in August 2021. I bought from Carvana in April 2022 with only 2,700 miles on it. They updated the name and the app works now.
