    Hello,

I’m scheduled to buy a 23 Platinum this week for $4,400 off MSRP. Should I wait for 2024 right around the corner or go forward with the 23? I’m assuming I would be waiting a while for the 24 and wouldn’t be able to get any discount. (Will end up being a $5k difference in price with new pricing structure).

    Any advice is appreciated!

I’d get the 23 and look to extend the warranty once you get close to 36,000 miles (that’s what I did).
Only advantage to waiting on the 24 would be the possibility that they worked out any remaining kinks from the 23. I’m not confident they changed much if anything though. The wait and extra cost probably won’t be worth it.

I would wait for the 2024 to give Toyota more opportunity/time to work out bugs.

I don't actually think the real world selling price will increase by much (after factoring in both incentives/discounts/rebates vs higher MSRP). The half ton market is TOO competitive at the moment. Ford is about to refresh the F150 and they have plenty of inventory. It will put downward price pressure on all the competitors. Furthermore, there's talk of big forum Ford dealers like Granger Ford going to 4% under invoice (from 3% under invoice for 2023 models) not including any Ford rebates/incentives... to move inventory.

I have to think that I won’t be able to land a 2024 Tundra for $4,400 off MSRP for a while though, right? We are probably talking about another 6+ months for that to happen.

    There's 2 parts to that...

    1. How much the dealer is willing to discount?
    2. How much Toyota is willing to discount?

I think #1 will stay relatively constant between model years with similar or improved supply because I don't think the holdback fluctuates that much. I think what you're talking about is the increase in manufacturer incentives as we get later in the year.

24 model year pricing has some significant increases. That coupled with the probable lack of discount initially on the 24s will likely result in a much higher price. Some model trims are $3k higher for MY24, so that would be almost $7k more expensive potentially to get the newer one. Have to discuss the difference with your dealer to see what the actual cost difference will be. I personally would still be waiting for the design flaws to get worked out. Many have had trouble free 23s, but there are some lingering issues that are still present. Good luck!

the only major nagging issue i see is the fuel gauge issue for us that affects most of the 22/23 MY tundra's

the other nit picks i have with our 23 plat we could live with, but if you are a petty person they may annoy you.

    edit :

    1. fuel gauge resets to full at 3/4 tank
    2. driver seat clicks if you put weight in the center back (no resolution currently)
    3. a/c grille fan is very noisy at start up
    4. front head lights are not evenly spaced from the bodywork
    5. hood leading edge is not even across the width of the truck
    6. lags from start at times (tsb doesnt apply to my vin)
    7. clunks into gear randomly (tsb doesnt apply to my vin)
    8. head unit randomly goes quiet during spotify (tsb doesnt apply to my vin)
    9. suspension still feels rough over bumps even after tsb adjusted the avs

this is just of the minor nit picks i have

The model changeover from 2022 to 2023 was short. I have a Sept produced 2022 and 2023 were in transit when I bought it in late October. So any close the plant down for a month to retool huge chances did not happen then. Not so sure the 2023-2024 model changeover is any different. So the key decision points are 1) is this the model, color, etc you want and 2) price since the likelihood of a 24 being same price or cheaper is low

I had to make a similar decision. My two cents are buy the 23 as you will absolutely pay a lot less if cash buyer. Is it possible Toyota will offer rebates or special interest rates in the future? Maybe maybe not but they will keep raising prices twice a year if the present pattern continues. I doubt loan interest rates will go down any time soon. Inflation and high interest rates are unfortunately with us until we get different leaders who understand spending way more than you bring in has a painful price. I agree with others who recommend a Platinum 10yr/125mile Toyota warranty if you are nervous about some bugs still needing to be worked out. We can connect you with a place to buy the warranty at a fair price other than your dealer. I bought a 22 instead of 23 and love it.

I have had no issues, other than the fuel line and tonneau cover recalls. I would assume discounts on the MY24 you probably won't see for several months and price increases make the 23 a way better deal.

True but I don’t really want those models- I’m fine with just the base Platinum

I have the 23 Platinum and don't off-road, so I too don't need TRD Off Road option. Definitely save yourself the money and get the 23. No-brainer in my opinion.
