I have read a lot of posts on PPF. Some love it and others despise it. In any event, mine from the factory looks terrible as it has weathered in the Texas heat. I want to remove it but have no clue what works well on removing the adhesive and not messing up the paint or clear coat. Suggestions??

Also, anyone have experience removing it from the plastic pieces? Does the paint come off with it?

If it doesn’t peel off, get a heat gun to get the adhesive loose. If that doesn’t work use a steamer to move along with the stubborn PPF.

Some peel off pretty easily like a big sticker. Others need a little heat to motivate it, use a hair dryer or heat gun.

May just start on it about noon here in Houston. Natures own heat gun! Any suggestions on leftover adhesive?

Trust me I know. My Andy’s concrete melted the 10 inches they had to hand it to me in the elements.

So when you talk about a heat gun, what temp should it be? I got a paint stripper heat gun that gets pretty freakin hot it sets off fire alarms in the house.

I've never had one with a heat setting so I wouldn't know, but you just want it hot enough to loosen up the adhesive. Generally it doesn't take much, but it makes a huge difference in how easy it is to pull it off.

Yeah. I wouldn’t want to be so hot it melts or warps the plastic under.

so, no doubt some adhesive stays behind. Every video I watch on YouTube shows peeling the film off by pulling towards you. But, not all adhesive comes off with the film. Anyone have experience with getting the adhesive off that stays on the painted surface?

I have just treated it like any other sticker/stuck thing on paint (annoying dealer stickers for example). Pull towards you gently, but firmly. Anything left behind gets the WD-40 or Goo-Gone treatment. Hasn't caused an issue for me yet.
