I’ve been thinking about it

Not gonna argue with any of it. My last aftermarket setup in my own rig was an Alpine single disk player in my old work truck. I’ve done a couple lower end Kenwoods in my kids’ rigs to get them Carplay.

I thought the Kenwood was a single DIN housing, but didn’t look at it in too much depth. It seemed when I did look before, all the “floating” units were single DIN with a massive screen and bracket.

The Kenwood knob feels out of place to me though.

Honestly I was never in the market for anything right now until there was blood in the water. I’ll install it, see if I like it, and if not pass it along and probably still make money off of it (and have all the install parts I need anyway).

I’m planning this install in two phases:
PH 1. Return the truck to stock JBL (remove the DSP amp) and replace the HU with Alpine, Maestro, hook up front camera, and remove my FRAC. Then I’ll see how that holds me over for a while.
PH 2. Install a new amp with dedicated RCA feeds, replace the door components with aftermarket, remove the dash speakers, and do a new sub. This buys me time to properly research and plan that install…

You will love the headunit. The differences we are talking about are minor. It won’t be worth swapping unless something really different comes out and is reliable.

 

Price showed $350 at my local BB. Unfortunately they had none available and couldn't be ordered online.

 

In all my years on this site this has been the most fun deal ever. The discount going even lower in the middle of this cluster just added another level of excitement. I’m sorry for the guys that missed out. This thing lasted a lot longer than I ever expected.

 

No kidding. It was a rollercoaster. Talked myself in and out a few times then stayed on the phone the entire time my son was in BB telling him, stop looking at stuff and go find a salesman.

Would anyone object to the powers that be add a poll to this thread?? I’d love to know how many Tundra crew bought a head unit. It would be cool to know the total saved by this thread.

I did. I figured someone would take it. I just knew that your current situation didn’t allow for you to jump on it and I wanted to make sure you were covered. Especially because we have talking about Fuhking head units for the last month.
