Alpine ILX-F511. Game Changer

With all of the usual basin crue going to be running Alpine, we'll be able to compare the units hands on in car.

I chose the Kenwood, for:
1.) Volume knob
2.) Screen is a smidge "smaller" but ultimately this has a positive effect on pixels per inch giving the display a "sharper" quality as both units are only 720 panels.
3.) From my previous life, the Kenwood display quality was better, not sure that carries over to these newer units....but we'll find out.
4.) Interface and stability. Having installed hundreds if not thousands of Kenwood, Alpine, Eclipse, Pioneer each. I've had the lowest number of "comebacks" for stability issues with Kenwood. Again, a large possibly outdated sampling, but it held true over many generations of the product lines.
5.) construction/installation...double din allows for things to spread out a bit for longevity and easier install with less "pigtails" in an already crowded space.
6.) aesthetics..."frameless" construction looks a bit "classier" in my opinion.
7.) Audio quality tends to be a bit better on the KW units, sort of a moot point for my install as I'll be running thing through a DSP, but a great source is paramount.

Tell me about it....a system for the truck wasn't even on the radar...but between @TucsonTundra1794 giving me such a smoking deal on the JL Stealthbox and the BestBuy deal for the h/u...has re-arranged my priorities a fair bit.

 

When I watched comparison videos, the Kenwood outperformed the Alpine. They were using the Excelon series, but I don't believe the display is any different.

 

Just got the notification that mine are ready for pickup! A day early!

Yep, that's the differences.

 

Audio reproduction (car/home/venue) has always been a passion/profession of mine. So exercising some restraint here is extremely difficult…

goals are to keep this a “simple” install.

 

I watched a test on the Alpine RCA outputs, the 7"one model, but supposedly all the stuff is the same 7-11". While the sub channel put out 4.5 ohms, the front and rears were only 2.5 or 2.6. So that's kind of lame on Alpine.

I mean...my original design was to utilize a single JL VX700/5i for Left Front, single VX700/5i for right front and a single VX600/1i for the subwoofer...

and now I'm trying to get a way with a single VX1000/5i for Front L/R and Sub...so that is a lot more simple...right?
