TRD Pro Sales Listing looks Fishy

Looking for a low mileage 2021 Tundra TRD Pro. Saw this listing at a Ford Dealer a few hours from me, but something seems fishy.

I thought all TRD Pro's came with black leather seats, but pics seem to show graphite cloth seats. Also noticing that the left and right bedside pics look different. Left has black and red coloring on the TRD Pro embossing and right side is just body color. Put the VIN in decoder and looks like SR5.

Am I crazy or is this thing a little strange????

You are correct, seems like someone swapped the seats with cloth ones from a SR5, the TRD black shifter is gone, the headlights aren’t the blacked out version original from a TRD PRO, fenders aren’t the originals and probably more stuff is modified in this truck. You have to be very careful and observant of all the small details on this truck if you decide to check it out in person.

 

That’s pretty weird. Someone definitely swapped some parts off of it before trading it in. I have no idea where those fenders came from but they aren’t right. I wonder if it was wrecked, parted out, then thrown back together to sell.

 

That dealer got hosed. This guys buddy is running around with all the pro goodies I bet. Probably has some spacer lift suspension under there. Surprised they left the Pro wheels. Maybe had LT on it? The front glass at least looks good.

 

Yeah, I bet they put aftermarket leathers in when they got it and sold the pro leather. Then sold/swapped with an SR5 cloth seat and pulled the shifter before trading. With the glass fenders and all that stuff stripped out of it, I wouldn't trust it. Definitely would be looking for the cab mount chop, and if that happened I'd be betting it was a mid/LT truck with 35"+ tires on it. Mileage on the odometer would be off by a fair bit at that point. I wouldn't buy it from a dealership, but if it were a private sale, the owner gave good explanations/was honest, and there were not any hinky vibes... I still probably wouldn't buy it.

 

But at least it has the lane departure assist as highlighted on every photo.

 

It's definitely not a TRD Pro. It's an SR5 based on VIN check. It was in a right side minor accident according to CarFax so I'm thinking it got a bed side and they also replaced the driver bedside with TRD Pro type and then did wheels, grill and badges.

 

Good catch. Some shadiness going on for sure.

Definitely not a Pro!! There is always someone out there trying to screw over someone and everyone they can!!! Buyer beware!

The TRD Pro on the side of the bed should not be cored in.. Especially on just one side. Factory is not colored. If you send me the Vin number, I can pull the original invoice or at least look at the Carfax and the books for you. I won't be back to work until the 19th… On a little vaca!!

 

That truck is all sorts of confused... It can't be an SR5, since I don't think those had the option for JBL, auto climate, or a sunroof, and it would be really weird for someone to add all the red trimmed interior pieces like you can see in the pics. So many things don't add up.

 

Toyotas own vin check comes back as TRD PRO.

Carfax says accident too.

Too fishy for me, I would hard pass.

NHTSA site says SR5, some serious scamming going on here.

When I pulled the VIN from Toyota owners it says its a Pro, but yeah its definitely missing a few things.

 

Honestly, doesn't matter if it's a Pro somebody stripped out or an SR5 somebody hacked together to fake it. It's fubar enough that nobody should want it.

 

Ah, ok. I just used a 3rd party lookup and saw SR5 so maybe not as accurate. My bad.

 

It’s a pro, just missing some shit. Most vin checks classify it as an sr5/ TRD pro.

but they crazy if they think they’re getting over $50k for that.

I second checking out @RusPro21 's truck for sale. Very nice, well-appointed and well maintained PRO he's selling.

 

I’m totally agree with you, the truck is a Pro but is missing some of the TRD PRO parts it’s really easy to swap the seats leather covers or even swapping the whole seats, an SR5 do not come with the AC dual climate zones not even the JBL system and leather steering wheel but this one is easy to swap as well, also the red stitching in the doors and dash panels and dual exhaust seems to be the TRD exhaust unless they already took that off, also in one of the pictures I can see the Red coilovers.

Our recommendation is Stay away from this!

 

I don't see the red coilovers in any of the pictures. Also looks high in the front, but that could just be the larger glass fender openings. But the real answer is still, STAY AWAY FROM THIS ONE! especially at this price.

 

I find FrankenTundra kinda mysterious and alluring.

 

Sadly, Someone will buy it. And think they got a good deal.

Thank you Troy and PermaFrost TRD for the compliment!! Yeah whoever buys my pro is getting a awesome truck. I had it fluid filmed when I got it. It’s always in the garage parked.

 

Just called them. Said it was sold. Salesman I talked to knew it should have leather seats but didn't know why it didn't. He also said he didn't see anything about that in the trade in notes but as the carfax shows, it wasn't a trade in.
