What does the "S" mean on the shifter next to drive? Is this sport mode or is it like the tow mode switch?

Sport. You can manually shift the truck. But there is nothing sport about it.

S does not stand for Sport. So you can stop being disappointed, lol.

It stands for Sequential. It is the Sequential shift mode. You can choose to lock out higher gears (like OD gears when you're towing, for example). That's it.

Sequential like the last few said. It just limits you to a gear. Move into S and 4th gear and your truck will drive normal in gears 1-4. Won’t shift to 5th or 6th.

I call mine snail mode. When I climb out of steep driveways, I go slowly, but she would shift into second, then first, then second again, then first again.

The reason for that is 4.6L is powerful engine and I ease off a little when in second, so that's why she goes back to first, but it's very close to second because I have tow package and it comes with 4.10 final drive, so first and second are actually pretty close.

I mean, there is plenty of power to blast out of there into space, but if there are cars ahead, you cant see very well once you climb out from the driveway. The whole situation is pretty tricky, so I just snail into first gear on the shifter and slowly crawl up. Like a crab.

Someone recently taught me on here that the S mode will make your trans shift way better . Like a machine, not a thinking computer

Not sure how it would. It only limits the gears. It'll still downshift like normal.

It also disables learning in snail mode.
