Went to unfold my DS side mirror and the outer shell just about came off in my hand. There's a large chunk of plastic missing where it pivots in and out. I didnt hit anything and i dont know how someone would hit me while parked to cause this damage. Either way, I'm going to need a new shell for the DS mirror. 2018 Limited non-tow mirror. Thankfully chrome and not painted. Anybody have a part number for what I need to buy and/or know the process for swapping it out?

    Function before sparkle.
I don't think that part is available separately like the cap. Fortunately there are lots of folks that have take off mirrors when the swapped over to tow mirrors. Post a wanted ad and you will likely find a set for cheap.

I hit a hanging tree limb a couple years ago and broke that portion of my mirror. I had to buy a whole new assembly.

Our old RAV4 had a rock blow a hole right through the black plastic mirror housing while driving on the highway, very similar to that.

Yep, I backed out of the garage carelessly and hit my passenger side mirror on the door track and it exploded. Didn't even think of looking for a used "take-off" mirror assembly. I had the dealer put on a new one at $566.00. I'm danged careful when backing out now...

My son clipped mine backing out of the garage about a month ago. It folded the "wrong' way and did the exact same damage.
I found a used one on ebay for $75 and it took all of 30 minutes to replace. There were quite a few for sale.
I bought pt# 87940-0C400-00 which was all black. I was a little confused looking online at new ones, but I think the last 2 digits may be the color code for the cap? If your chrome one isn't damaged you should be able to swap that if you buy a mirror with a black 'cap'.
