JBL head unit repleacement.

I'm new to the forum, thanks for the add.

I would like to know if someone can point me in the right direction regarding changing my jbl stereo for an aftermarket one regarding the wiring harness. Is there a plug and play for this? I've attached a pic of what the wiring harness of the truck and would like to know if there is a plug and play because I ordered the

$8 metra 70-1761 radio wiring harness fits select 1987-UP toyota vehicles power + 4 speaker (packaging may vary)

metra 70-1761 and it does not work. I can figure out and power up the unit using the battery/ignition and ground but can't figure out the wiring colors for the speakers. Please help.

 

Depending on the new head unit I believe there are special wiring harnesses
I have aftermarket in mine but was there when I got it
Maybe Google your new unit and year of truck and wiring harnesses
Ie *Sony model 'x11awesome' 08 tundra wiring harness

Not sure if this will help but I am looking to replace stereo on my 2011 and in Crutchfield after you put in Make/Model they will list all of the other stuff you will need.

 

You didn't mention what year is your Tundra but I'm assuming 07-13. If you have JBL system, you would need Metra AXDIS-TY1, this is for amplified system and also retains the steering wheel controls. The

70-1761 is for non jbl system

 

As mentioned above, Crutchfield is a good resource, also James from Tech12volts in vendor list helps alot of our members. Be prepared, the JBL system is a pain in the ass in our 2nd gens, you probably wont regain full functionality of your speakers without using Maestro and/or bypassing/replacing oem amp and or speakers. Toyota/JBL decided special low impedence speakers (think its the front door ones) would be a fun addition to our trucks.
