Hi all ! Would anyone know the length of the slots between sides on the bed near tailgate? Can you use 2x4's or does it have to be narrower? was thinking about trex because weather resistance and when i fill up gas cans they will stay put with tail gate shut.Any ideas? Thanks for all replies Have an awesome weekend! smileytn1

    What’s wrong with stock?
A 2x4 is too short. Things could topple over if they are heavy. I used a 1x6 composite deck board from Home Depot. It moves around in the track but holds things when pressed on. Make sure you cut it at an angle so it fits. (I had them in the garage because I was hauling large items that didn’t need to be held. IMG_4958.jpgIMG_4959.jpg

I got a 2x12 and cut it to size, about 61". Works really well although its a bit heavy for what it's doing. It was around 25 bucks from Lowe's.
