    Hello everyone.
For a while now the steering pump on my truck has been whining when I make turns and I pretty much have to muscle the wheel around in a parking lot.

I don't have a lot of free time right now to do it myself, so I called my local garage that I always go to. They have always treated me good, so I don't really doubt them. They checked their normal parts venders, and they could not get a steering pump for my truck. They said they would have to get it from the dealer. They quoted $800 to $900 for parts and labor.

I have seen the pumps on both rock auto and parts geek. Is there something to these pumps that a normal parts dealer would not carry them?

Does anyone have a suggestion on what brand/model of pump I should get? I will have to do it myself when I have the time.

    Thanks for the help.
